Well, you know how it is.  5000 years of civilization, the Chinese were bound to invent things a long time ago.  Even though they eat with chopsticks, they invented the fork.  What puzzles me, though, is what they used to wipe their ass before they invented paper.

Not only visually beautiful, but compositionally magnificent. Note how brilliantly the feathers, the garment and the lines of the burl draw the viewer's eye to the face of the subject. Further, once the lines take the viewer there, the headband cleverly keeps the viewer on a beautifully profiled women apparently in repose, or, deep thought!

Beautiful! Technically impeccable!

I mentioned before that we recently moved to the top of a mountain ridge bordering our city.  I’ve learned that the weather is way more intense up here.  I talked with a colleague in the city this morning and she said they had no ice, just rain.  We got hammered with freezing rain last night but around noon the sun came out and furiously melted everything in the space of a couple hours.  The wind blows up here way stronger too, so as the winds whipped the frozen branches in the sun, the ice would audibly fracture and voluminously break off and fly away.  Much of that ice would slam into the side of our house.  It sounded like Armageddon through this whole process.  These two photos were taken about two hours apart.

It belongs to a neighbor. Kona was a bad girl, a lot of barking, so she has a time out.

A friend of mine who is a dog therapist is going to work with Kona and excessive barking problem. She also volunteers at the shelter that I volunteer at and I've seen her do wonders with dogs that come to us from horrible backgrounds.

These are photos of Lake Ohrid high in the Balkans. It borders North Macedonia and Albania. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the oldest lake in Europe at 1.3 million years old. I spent a week touring around the area and just loved it. Lake Ohrid is connected to lake Prespa by underground caverns. It is 134 square miles and well over 900 feet deep.

These photos are from the internet as my photos is the old non-digital type. (I know I have to do something about that)

If the lake has a path to a river or stream that empties into salt water. The American eel is catadromous. The American eel lives in fresh or brackish water during as an adult and then migrates into the ocean to spawn. American eel adults die after spawning.

Don't know which species are in Lake Ohrid, but, I thought the above might apply.

10.1.3  Kavika   replied to  A. Macarthur @10.1.2    2 years ago

It seems from what I can find out is that the eels did a migration to the Adriatic sea which is thousands of miles away but the building of two dams on the freshwater river stopped the natural cycle, which was a 10-year cycle.

I found out that they planted some eels in the lake when the dams cut off their access to the sea.

This is a photo of ''Phantom'' as in Phantom of the Opera. Our shelter had a ''dog adoption'' event today. Phantom was found sitting on the porch of an empty house and was taken in by one of our volunteers as a foster. She is around 8 to 10 months old and super friendly. She is a bull terrier mix and weighs 35 lbs.

Here is a list of simple actions you can take to help Ukraine. We MUST unite to quite literally save the world before it’s too late:

- Contact your local representatives and pressure them to provide more support for Ukraine and stricter sanctions on Russia. We need military and humanitarian aid and Russia must be cut off from SWIFT.

- Donate money to humanitarian aid organizations. Find a full list over here:

- Follow the news from

Telegram:

- Support the Ukrainian Army —  Official Account of the National Bank of Ukraine

15.2.7  Buzz of the Orient  replied to  A. Macarthur @15.2.6    2 years ago

That is NOT AT ALL proof that Putin wants to kill Zelenskyy BECAUSE HE IS JEWISH,  it is because Putin thinks he is a Nazi.  Religion is not stated or indicated in any way.  Anyone can be a Nazi no matter WHAT religion they are.

As for my attitude here, the first lecture on our first day of our first year at law school was given by the Dean, and what he told us was that if we were not prepared to learn and understand and even be capable of arguing the other side's case as well as our own we may as well walk out that door and never come back to this school.  I am not taking sides, I am indicating that there IS another side to the story which I don't intend to post on this group which I thought would be void of politics, and I have just indicated my disappointment that it isn't.  Just consider me to be The Devil's Advocate if you wish.

Don’t talk down to me; if you had the full Ukraine invasion story to date, you’d know there is no other side in this one.

You created an issue where none existed; innocent people are getting murdered & fleeing their homes and Putin’s labeling a Jew a “Nazi” is clear enough evidence of an insidious irony to target a traditional scapegoat.

We’re done. Do what you think is your duty and I will decide how to respond.
