First things first.

I like the vintage flat screen monitor in the station....
Well, you know how it is. 5000 years of civilization, the Chinese were bound to invent things a long time ago. Even though they eat with chopsticks, they invented the fork. What puzzles me, though, is what they used to wipe their ass before they invented paper.
When we ran out of Sears catalog pages in the outhouse it was maple leaves that served the purpose.
Gum leaves were better had that nice eucalyptus fragrance...
For the people of Ukraine...stay forever strong...
Dawn will rise....and evil will be defeated no matter how long it takes...

Stunning photo, shona.
Totally agree, Ukraine Strong.
A/noon Kavika...
Opps I forgot I did not take this photo..
Yes dawn over my town yesterday morning before the world got turned upside down again.
The clouds almost look like missile trails...Maybe it was a warning of what was to come...
Photos of ''Shalom Park'' which is next to Stone Creek in Ocala, FL.
Absolutely gorgeous...I could spend a lot of time in there...looks very peaceful.....
We will assume it's really peaceful.
It is very peaceful, shona. They have a beautiful Koi pond. My photo of it didn't turn out well, I'll get another one the next time I visit.
Here is a link to Sholom Park.
Thank you for that...it has just inspired me to go for a walk around our botanical gardens.. not been there for awhile...
I like doing things like that. We have an new aquarium I have been wanting to see. I am just not into crowds right now.
I remember back on the vine Soph use to do picture essays of places her and Laird would visit around the UK. Old castles and things.
Hi all, here's my contribution to this week.......
We will wave goodbye as she disappears into the burl. One could create a synonymous interpretation of that with the historical experience of Native America.
Not only visually beautiful, but compositionally magnificent. Note how brilliantly the feathers, the garment and the lines of the burl draw the viewer's eye to the face of the subject. Further, once the lines take the viewer there, the headband cleverly keeps the viewer on a beautifully profiled women apparently in repose, or, deep thought!
Beautiful! Technically impeccable!
awesome RW
I think I’ll stay inside today.
Exceptionally beautiful!
I mentioned before that we recently moved to the top of a mountain ridge bordering our city. I’ve learned that the weather is way more intense up here. I talked with a colleague in the city this morning and she said they had no ice, just rain. We got hammered with freezing rain last night but around noon the sun came out and furiously melted everything in the space of a couple hours. The wind blows up here way stronger too, so as the winds whipped the frozen branches in the sun, the ice would audibly fracture and voluminously break off and fly away. Much of that ice would slam into the side of our house. It sounded like Armageddon through this whole process. These two photos were taken about two hours apart.
The first photo is one of the things I miss most about Winter - the sun turning the frozen bare branches of trees into a sparkling crystal paradise.
When I was a kid we used to break off those icicles and suck on them like popsicles.
Geez buzz..if you did that now you would have parents freaking out..
It would be unhygienic, not sealed in plastic, not tested or stored in an Esky (hmm not sure what you mob call it.. a big container you put ice in to keep drinks cold and take on a BBQ) and not to mention you don't know where it has been or come from...
No idea how we survived childhood....
... cooler, ice chest, summer highway obstacles.
Image of a Crane in Flight
Very colourful - looks like a Foo Bird.
Hmm... You could have foo'ed me.
LOL
When you corrected the misspelled word in Comment 7.1. you forgot to also correct "colorful".
Err no...colourful is correct...as is labour, favour, harbour etc..
We of the Commonwealth know how to spell "proper".. don't we Buzz...😀😀
Right on, shona1. We spell English in its proper manner, not how Webster had to simplify for the language deprived.
Actually, I'm sure GG was just pulling my leg.
Yes, at every chance I get!
LOL
Hi, my name is Kona and I've been kind of a bad girl so I'm in time out right now.
A Hawaiian dog?
Yes she is, Kona is a popular name and can be translated to ''Lady'' or in another usage can mean ''leeward'' such as Kona Coast or Kona town since it is on the leeward side of the big island.
And a gorgeous one at that..
Whose doggie is it??
It belongs to a neighbor. Kona was a bad girl, a lot of barking, so she has a time out.
A friend of mine who is a dog therapist is going to work with Kona and excessive barking problem. She also volunteers at the shelter that I volunteer at and I've seen her do wonders with dogs that come to us from horrible backgrounds.
Oh dear...hope she can help Kona and fix the problem...
I'm sure that she can, I see here cure the excessive barking problems with other dogs.
Lighten up!

Why? Are we being too heavy?
Just a visual pun is all.
Morning Mac...
Almost looks like a bush fire...
Glorious colours...
These are photos of Lake Ohrid high in the Balkans. It borders North Macedonia and Albania. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the oldest lake in Europe at 1.3 million years old. I spent a week touring around the area and just loved it. Lake Ohrid is connected to lake Prespa by underground caverns. It is 134 square miles and well over 900 feet deep.
These photos are from the internet as my photos is the old non-digital type. (I know I have to do something about that)
Beautiful!
Interesting information is that Lake Ohrid has freshwater eels. Not many lakes in the world can make that claim.
If the lake has a path to a river or stream that empties into salt water. The American eel is catadromous. The American eel lives in fresh or brackish water during as an adult and then migrates into the ocean to spawn. American eel adults die after spawning.
Don't know which species are in Lake Ohrid, but, I thought the above might apply.
It seems from what I can find out is that the eels did a migration to the Adriatic sea which is thousands of miles away but the building of two dams on the freshwater river stopped the natural cycle, which was a 10-year cycle.
I found out that they planted some eels in the lake when the dams cut off their access to the sea.
Stunning photos... certainly a beautiful place..
New Zealand has them as well. Big ones too!
You can find them throughout New England as well..
This is a photo of ''Phantom'' as in Phantom of the Opera. Our shelter had a ''dog adoption'' event today. Phantom was found sitting on the porch of an empty house and was taken in by one of our volunteers as a foster. She is around 8 to 10 months old and super friendly. She is a bull terrier mix and weighs 35 lbs.
Well named.
UPDATE,
Phantom was adopted this AM by a young man that saw her at the adoption event.

Sunsets never get old in Stone Creek.
These are the Ukrainian civilian volunteers willing to fight the Russian invasion of their country.
''Faces of Courage''
Here is a list of simple actions you can take to help Ukraine. We MUST unite to quite literally save the world before it’s too late:
- Contact your local representatives and pressure them to provide more support for Ukraine and stricter sanctions on Russia. We need military and humanitarian aid and Russia must be cut off from SWIFT.
- Donate money to humanitarian aid organizations. Find a full list over here:
- Follow the news from
Telegram:
- Support the Ukrainian Army — Official Account of the National Bank of Ukraine
Done
i thought this group was to be free of politics. Goodbye.
This isn’t about politics, it’s about a humanitarian crisis, innocent people being murdered by a crazy bastard who’s talking nuclear war!
Maybe you’re not getting the story where you are, but the Ukraine posts stay!
Your asking for stricter sanctions against Russia is political, your asking for donations is spam which I should delete. I thought you wanted this group to be neutral.
For whatever reason, you are clearly uninformed or misinformed … it’s glaring. In case you have not been told, Putin is trying to kill the President of Ukraine BECAUSE HE’S JEWISH!
The list is not mine; it from various sources seeking humanitarian aid for an illegally INVADED COUNTRY,
If you delete my post, I will close the article and you can take over the group.
If he deletes your post, I will consider it hypocritical on his part, as he would expect nothing less if it were Israel that is being invaded by the mental ego maniac in Russia.
Please provide me with a link to a TRUTHFUL fact that Putin is trying to kill Zelenskyy because he is Jewish. As well, I would not delete your post, only the spam contained in it - your request for donations. That is spam and posting spam is contrary to the CoC and I have a duty on NT to delete spam.
Ukraine’s Jewish President Zelenskiy asks Putin: ‘How could I be a Nazi?’
That’s all you get; I don’t need to provide you with anything … this is a courtesy … first and only. Maybe you can’t get the news where you are; your oblique implication that I haven’t provided TRUTH is insulting.
That is NOT AT ALL proof that Putin wants to kill Zelenskyy BECAUSE HE IS JEWISH, it is because Putin thinks he is a Nazi. Religion is not stated or indicated in any way. Anyone can be a Nazi no matter WHAT religion they are.
As for my attitude here, the first lecture on our first day of our first year at law school was given by the Dean, and what he told us was that if we were not prepared to learn and understand and even be capable of arguing the other side's case as well as our own we may as well walk out that door and never come back to this school. I am not taking sides, I am indicating that there IS another side to the story which I don't intend to post on this group which I thought would be void of politics, and I have just indicated my disappointment that it isn't. Just consider me to be The Devil's Advocate if you wish.
Don’t talk down to me; if you had the full Ukraine invasion story to date, you’d know there is no other side in this one.
You created an issue where none existed; innocent people are getting murdered & fleeing their homes and Putin’s labeling a Jew a “Nazi” is clear enough evidence of an insidious irony to target a traditional scapegoat.
We’re done. Do what you think is your duty and I will decide how to respond.
OK, I am going to intervene here.
First of all, you are both old friends, and that should come above all.
Let's remember that for years this has been a group of friends, and especially you two have been friends for years. That should override all differences. If you want to talk about this more, that is what we have "Private notes" for.
Amen sis...
Even the BEST of friends don't see eye-to-eye ALL the time.
Crocus coming up, discovered this evening. The first real sign of spring.

An edit for Ukraine.
Nice.
Oops. I should have said the second. The first was a loud cacophony of spring peepers on a warm evening last week, but then an ice storm blew through and shut them up.
For all Ukrainians........
Excellent.
