Thank you for asking. They have put a temporary hold on the project for now due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which gives me some time to catch up a bit too. Not sure how long the hold will last, but, it is nice to be able to take a deep breath at this point. It is amazing how simple people tend to think a project like this is. Yet, it is really quite interesting and I'm learning a lot more as I go along.
I hope to find a few extra minutes during the time out to work up some more artwork to share here. I really miss everyone.
Probably wouldn't fit in here very well though...doesn't snap, bite, sting, eat you etc...
Not all critters in Oz, snap bite sting, or eat people. Take one of my favorite critters, the Quokka for example. There has never been a recorded attack on humans by a Quokka except for the time a drunk tripped over one and went headfirst into a billabong and a croc got him. That is a true story, almost, well maybe it is.
PS: hope your rellies are safe in NSW with the floods...tad wet up there at the moment
Well actually a foreign tourist complained about them because they scratched one of their kids while feeding it...you are not meant to feed them...so the Rangers kicked the tourists off the island..
Again, the case of the disappearing comment - commented last night, woke up this morning and it's not there. I thought that was a great conglomerate of colourful costumes - similar to how many ethnic groups wear here. Nice depiction.
Late, perhaps, but happy birthday. I'm sure you're aware of the words of Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption: "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
It has been 3 years since my cat, Darkness passed and I still grieve. I still cry when I think of him and his last few months. I miss my little peanut a lot, so I know exactly what you are feeling.
Recently our friend Dig posted a series he created of different versions of a photo of a bird. It was very cool. I sometimes also create different versions, which I have never posted as a group, but I thought I would do that today.
View of the Pope's Palace and Cathedral, Avignon, France
Very impressive variations of the original photo. They are only one of the very many things we can learn from each other here in this group, yet, still apply our own personal touch to them. Although you were inspired by Dig and his variation of one of his photos, you have still maintained your own touch to the artwork.
That is the beautiful part of this group....we learn from each other, new techniques and ways to improve our own artwork, and/or gives fruit to our own ideas.
Whichever came first, you both never fail to please and inspire.
I agree. It's fun and educational to try new things, different techniques, new ideas. I've been doing that a lot. I have also been revising and refining some of the work I did on pieces months ago, now that I have more knowledge.
I have also been revising and refining some of the work I did on pieces months ago, now that I have more knowledge.
There ya go! That is really both fun and can lead into a whole new artwork to boot. There are times when I start work on as idea and for some reason it just wouldn't come together like I wanted. So I set it aside and go back to it at some later date. Sometimes the original idea will just seem to fall in place, or I will use what is there for a whole new artwork. But, I always keep a backup copy of the original basics as I might want to go back and finish it some day. I have backup copies of artwork I did more than 10 years ago, and I must say that unlike me, it never grows old. (grin)
A lesson I learned the hard way, when an artwork I was putting together went wrong and I had to start over from scratch. The new start never turned out the same as the one before it. It was kind of disappointing, so I learned to make backup copies as I go along just in case.
Another still from the new house. This is from the bar in the basement. Light coming in from a nearby window just happened to frame the butler just right. The granite was so highly reflective that I had to capture it in a photo.
On a side note, some may remember the butler from a while ago when he was the subject of one of my photos. Only it wasn’t this one, it was one that was twice as tall. Apparently this butler style is not unique, as I found the smaller version at an antique store recently with the same exact tuxedo, shoes and vest. The only difference is that the small one is made to hold a bottle.
Thanks, Buzz. When we moved a few months ago I had to pack up the entire collection and fill literally hundreds of nail holes in the drywall of the man cave. I’ve got a gallery in the new house to display it all but it’s only partly finished and I can’t get my contractor to get his shit together and finish it. I’m handy but it’s a little beyond my capabilities. There are about 50 boxes and a closet full of stuff too big for a box.
No special significance, Buzz. We see the herons do that quite often. The other day a heron and an eagle were sitting on the same roof but by the time I got my camera ready the heron flew off.
Thanks, Buzz. I like to try to leave room for a viewer's own imagination with much of my artwork. Leaving nothing for the viewer to imagine on their own is sometimes boring. Encouraging a viewer to use their own imagination makes it more interesting, and intriguing for the viewer, and ultimately, more fun.
I keep forgetting to hit "reply" when the comment I'm replying to is the last comment on the page - anyway, I guess it's understood that it was meant to be a reply to A.Mac's painting.
Such a beautiful, delicate and mesmerizing artwork, Mac. That one is sure to be a good seller at your next painting exhibit. It surely is a treat for the eyes.
Good evening. Post creatively.
Love the painting, Mac. Fascinating!!
How's the project going, RW?

A/noon Raven..
Always good to have a sloth day to recharge the batteries...
Just hangin'
What a cutie... love sloths...
Probably wouldn't fit in here very well though...doesn't snap, bite, sting, eat you etc...

Thanks, shona, as of yesterday they were fine.
Yep Quokkas another one of my favourites...
Well actually a foreign tourist complained about them because they scratched one of their kids while feeding it...you are not meant to feed them...so the Rangers kicked the tourists off the island..
Some people just can't help themselves..
Perfect.
Should have made them swim back..🦈🦈
I would do wonders for the Oz tourist board..
Interesting experiment - a picture within a picture. Swirls can be fun...

Rather stunning Buzz...
Very Interesting, Buzz, and very beautiful. #3 is especially interesting. The myriad of colors is truly a treat for the eyes. Very nice experiment.
Nice variations on a theme.
A/noon..
Sunrise this Autumn morning down the harbour...
I didn't take this photo..
We're on our way; good evening.
Fire in the sky..
Sunrise yday morning behind the cork screw...
Use to be able to walk out there for the view but that all stopped after 9/11 and they closed the wharves to the public....
Miss walking out there..
Not my photo...
A new one I finally had time to finish......
Again, the case of the disappearing comment - commented last night, woke up this morning and it's not there. I thought that was a great conglomerate of colourful costumes - similar to how many ethnic groups wear here. Nice depiction.
Morning Buzz... probably the Russians...
That's what we say here when something goes wrong with technology...
Thank you, Buzz. It's a Native American family on their way to a POW WOW, each wearing the regalia of their chosen dance.
I think that's wonderful.
Thanks, G.
My co-worker brought these in for my birthday this past Monday.
Hope Springs eternal....hope it is right around the corner.
Late, perhaps, but happy birthday. I'm sure you're aware of the words of Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption: "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
Thank you.
Love that novella and the movie. That is a very good line.
Happy belated Birthday, Veronica.
Thank you.
HB/V
Happy birthday for the other day...
Health, wealth and happiness to you..
🐨🦘🎉🎊
Thank you.

Happy Birthday, Veronica.
I miss the old guy...
I know how you feel - I still miss my cat who died decades ago.
It has been 3 years since my cat, Darkness passed and I still grieve. I still cry when I think of him and his last few months. I miss my little peanut a lot, so I know exactly what you are feeling.
Anoon evil...you miss them forever..
They all leave paw prints across our hearts..

Our local ''gang''. Stone Creek, Ocala FL.
So awesome.
the outline of the ducks looks like the head of a creature coming up to eat the pelicans...
LOL, I don't think that Mishipeshu is in our ponds, but you never know for sure.
Birds of a feather - must be a bird-watcher's paradise. And for you, the feathered ones and their feathers hold special significance.

Very nice, G.
Thanks, Kavika.

Very well done!
Thank you, Raven Wing. I actually created this series before Dig posted his series, but he did inspire me to post mine.

Whichever came first, you both never fail to please and inspire.
I think Dig's presentations are always awesome.
Nice array of styles, G.!
Thanks much, A. Mac!
I'll bet it was fun to do that - I know I used to enjoy doing it when I had an editing program that was really useful.
You would win that bet. It was definitely fun.
Some of our best lessons learned is from just experimenting with different techniques.
I agree. It's fun and educational to try new things, different techniques, new ideas. I've been doing that a lot. I have also been revising and refining some of the work I did on pieces months ago, now that I have more knowledge.

I keep everything. I have a separate file for each piece I create with most of the versions as I edit them.
A lesson I learned the hard way, when an artwork I was putting together went wrong and I had to start over from scratch. The new start never turned out the same as the one before it. It was kind of disappointing, so I learned to make backup copies as I go along just in case.
Sweet!
Thanks, Dig.

Awesome Hal! More so due to the reflection of all of the items on the counter top.
Very nicely done.
Terrific photo, fascinating objects - you have an amazing collection. You could be housing a museum.

cool stuff
Spiritual Teepee

Love the myriad of colors, and the idea of a "Spiritual Teepee" is very interesting.
That is amazing - absolutely beautiful.
Really nice.
Cool. It almost looks 3D, like some kind of gemstone behind glass.
Now that's pretty cool.
Cactus Rose Abstract
©A. Mac/A.G.
A very interesting abstract, Mac. Cactus flowers are one of my favorites, and your variation is very intriguing. Nicely done!
You have so mastered your technique. I'll echo Professor Higgins and sing.. "By George, he's got it. By George, he's got it,"
The view is great, come on up and join me...Stone Creek, Ocala, FL.
Holy smoke - now tell us the significance of that happening.
No special significance, Buzz. We see the herons do that quite often. The other day a heron and an eagle were sitting on the same roof but by the time I got my camera ready the heron flew off.
Make a unique weather vane...
He is a big guy. Impressive.
Aww.....com'on Kavika. Tell us...how big a treat did he demand to pose so regally for you.
(snickersnort)
I had to promise her a cover shot on Vogue. True story, maybe.
Ahh huh...and birds fly backwards here to keep the dust out of their eyes..
LOL!! I'd say it is a treat well earned.
Oh and I do believe you. I really do.
The only bird that flies backward is the gillygaloo bird.
It is a fearsome critter that nests on hillsides and lays square eggs, so they will not roll. They are native to Ocala, FL.
And one to take us into Saturday.....
Oh wow..that is stunning...
Thank you, shona.
there's a lot in that creation. nice RW.
Thank you very much, dev.
What a treat for the imagination. It could be a big eye, or a globe within a shroud,
Thanks, Buzz. I like to try to leave room for a viewer's own imagination with much of my artwork. Leaving nothing for the viewer to imagine on their own is sometimes boring. Encouraging a viewer to use their own imagination makes it more interesting, and intriguing for the viewer, and ultimately, more fun.
Quit laughing I'm trying to shake my booty. Stone Creek, Ocala FL.
A Canada goose or a gillygaloo bird? It looks like it's flying backward.
Yesterday's sunrise.
There's a movie called "Red Dawn" - could be a poster for it.
That's a beauty, Dig.

That is an awesome abstract, Mac. The framing is also very interesting. Truly very well thought out and executed.
You're showing us you've got some terrific new ideas.
I keep forgetting to hit "reply" when the comment I'm replying to is the last comment on the page - anyway, I guess it's understood that it was meant to be a reply to A.Mac's painting.
One more for Sunday...
Dressed to the nines.
Me too for Sunday.

Delicate, like feathers. You're working on some nice new ideas.
Such a beautiful, delicate and mesmerizing artwork, Mac. That one is sure to be a good seller at your next painting exhibit. It surely is a treat for the eyes.
Blue Heron flying into the sunset. Stone Creek, Ocala, FL.

I assume you joined the club?
It's an ad hoc group nothing formal at all just a bunch of old farts wandering around the area taking photos and posting them.
A group I would probably be part of if I were there.
Please give them my thanks for sharing, and to you as well.
Thanks to all’
