A turtle crawled out of the lake and buried her eggs. A neighbor saw this and the birds already starting to dig up the eggs so she put the cage with weight on top to protect the eggs. We now have a ''turtle watch'' and everyone knows how many days it will take for them to hatch. These turtles are guaranteed to survive and reach the water with human protection.
Our plovers with their spurs...I have been swooped heaps of times but ignore them. Some people have been hit. But you do get a lot of warning before hand to run for it .
1. Post a photo that was taken by you and not edited (frames are okay) that displays as much of all three primary colours as possible. My entry is entitled "Primary Colours", taken by me at the White Horse Temple in Luoyang, Henan Province, P.R.C.
2. Create an original poem to illustrate this photo:
My entry:
She stopped, she looked, she saw that tree And asked it: "Will you talk to me?" The tree glanced down, then it did sing "My flowers bloomed for you this Spring."
3. Create a caption for this photo:
My entry: "Oh my God. Is this the world? Scotty, beam me back inside."
This is pretty disappointing. There was a time when 10 or 15 members would show their ingenuity and creativity when a challenge like this was posted, but maybe the virus has, or hopefully the vaccine has not, as I've read lately, had certain lasting limiting effects on cognitive motivation. Or should I just be paranoid about something?
This week I posted on the Creative Arts group articles an article about an American artist who created unique fantastic paintings. There are also excellent descriptions and explanations of them. If you are interested, take a look (LINK) ->
So last fall, I planted hundreds of bulbs. Many of them didn't make it through the winter, either ending up dying or food, but these are some pics I took of the ones that came up.
You are pretty correct, Mac. The woman is in seclusion while in Spiritual connection with her Spirit Guide. The Mother wolf is close to her, and the young one sits further away to observe and learn.
Thank you, Sis. And it is indeed very important to be in touch with oneself. As well as other life forms around us, as they are a very important part of the world we all live in.
I enlarged it to my picture library and it's no more blurry than the original, but also easier to see the details. Her facial features are still quite discernable and the details of the two dogs more visible. If you want I can post it to fill the page unless you prefer to do it yourself or prefer that it not be done.
Thanks Buzz. If you want to post it you are welcome to do so, however, not too large. I'm glad you were able to get it to enlarge and still not be blurry.
Although I was able to enlarge it, clarify and sharpen it in my computer using paint and adobe express, when I tried to post it, it did something that never happened to me before - it would only post in the original size you posted it, not with my amended version. When I then tried to enlarge it using the little corner squares while in this comment window it would not enlarge with the clarity and sharpness, so never mind.
I know, I really haven't been out for some time with my camera. We aren't even feeding birds in the yard this year because of the rise in a new bird flu. This downy was from this time last year...
In the back of a neighbor's house looking out on the cattle ranch, there was a huge oak tree that was ready to fall over and had to be taken down. Here they are taking it down and the cattle came to check out what was going on and they actually had to stop the tree removal until they could get the cattle to move away...LOL
This photo was taken this AM by the SC photo club. The contrails are from the SpaceX launch this morning from Cape Canaveral. If you look closely to the right of the contrails are two planets.
I think you are right. Kavika's photo looks like it was taken a little later since the lower part of the contrail is starting to dissipate and the sky is getting lighter.
Blue jay in a redbud tree that's pretty much done flowering.
Rose-breasted grosbeak.
Hummingbird.
Baltimore oriole.
Eating oak catkins, which are full of that yellowish-green pollen that seems to get everywhere this time of year. Lots of birds eat them.
Scratching an itch.
Eastern bluebird.
I guess the tufted titmouse didn't move in, so now bluebirds are checking out the bluebird house. Imagine that, lol.
Flying out of it.
The wren bringing what looks like insect larva to the new birdhouse. It's way too early to be feeding chicks, so I guess it might have been for a female who was inside laying or incubating eggs. However, I read somewhere that females generally feed themselves, and that males will sometimes bring food to an empty nest simply out of anticipation of feeding chicks, so who knows what was really going on.
It's that time again.

I believe this is a plover.
Great story, Kavika. It will be fun to watch the hatching of the baby turtles. How many days before they begin to hatch?
80 days Raven.
Thanks.
I think it’s a Piping Plover; good call. Great conservation effort!
Arvo...good on you all for helping mother nature...she needs all the help she can get at times.
Look forward to the turtle watch updates..🐢🐢
Nice looking plover..do they attack you?? Ours do and they have inch long spurs on their wings and swoop something fierce at nesting time..
I haven't seen or heard of any attacks here, shona.
Our plovers with their spurs...I have been swooped heaps of times but ignore them. Some people have been hit. But you do get a lot of warning before hand to run for it .
I don't remember having been attacked by a Plover when I lived in OZ, but at my age there are a lot of things I don't remember...
I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.
Sundown at the lake. Stone Creek, Ocala FL.
Wow.
Beyond awesome!

What a cute little sprout on the tree. A sweet bit of color to give the tree some new life.

Anoon Buzz..yep that size spider might qualify here...
So last fall, I planted hundreds of bulbs. Many of them didn't make it through the winter, either ending up dying or food, but these are some pics I took of the ones that came up.
You added some lovely colour to your home.
Beautiful flowers, Perrie. And Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. Their colors are so bright and vibrant.
A beautiful array. The wide and tighter angles provide a nice documentary.
Those are beautiful. Great job!
Beautiful flowers, Perrie.
Thanks, everyone. I was a bit nervous posting photos since I don't do it often.
you should've put a large feline in the shot for some perspective...
I would have but then I would also have fleas.
wear a flea collar...
Anoon Perrie... absolutely stunning...
Thanks Shona!
Time for a new one.......
I’d love to know the iconography of this image RW; it is simultaneously visually beautiful and mysterious.
You are pretty correct, Mac. The woman is in seclusion while in Spiritual connection with her Spirit Guide. The Mother wolf is close to her, and the young one sits further away to observe and learn.
very cool RW.
Thanks, dev.
Beautiful Raven. I love that it has meaning, too. Nothing is more important than being in touch with oneself.
Thank you, Sis. And it is indeed very important to be in touch with oneself. As well as other life forms around us, as they are a very important part of the world we all live in.
Oh, Raven, that is a beautiful image.
Thank you, Buzz.
That is absolutely fantastic.
Thank you very much, G. I'm glad you like it.
I would like to see it a bit larger so we could discern more of the details.
I tried to make it larger, G, but, it only got blurry.
That's too bad. It's a great piece.
I enlarged it to my picture library and it's no more blurry than the original, but also easier to see the details. Her facial features are still quite discernable and the details of the two dogs more visible. If you want I can post it to fill the page unless you prefer to do it yourself or prefer that it not be done.

How totally odd is that? I have never had that happen to me either. But, thanks for trying, Buzz.
I know, I really haven't been out for some time with my camera. We aren't even feeding birds in the yard this year because of the rise in a new bird flu. This downy was from this time last year...
That's a pretty fluffy guy there, EG. And he makes a beautiful picture.
Great photo EG. Love me a birdie!
Flowers and blooming trees everywhere.
Beautiful blossoms abound. Great photos, Veronica.
Thank you.
Of all the seasons, Spring announces its arrival with the colourful beauty of new and emerging growth, as you have captured.
Really nice.
Beautiful flowers Veronica! Well done!

I love wind currents. Always reminds me of
Beware, the awiens are among us.
Same picture subject as number 9 above? Certainly looks like it.................
They both appear to be contrails from rocket launchings.
I think they are one in the same. I confirmed where magicschoolbusdropout lives and I know that Kavika lives pretty much in the same area.
Sure looks the same, depending on where magicbus lives.
I live a bit over 100 miles NW of the Cape.
I think you are right. Kavika's photo looks like it was taken a little later since the lower part of the contrail is starting to dissipate and the sky is getting lighter.
Good Call Jim.
I think it's cool that both of them caught the same. You don't see that happening often.
Here is a photo of when it launched at 5:42am EDT.
Photo by the SC photo club.
A beautiful photo, and the timing is just right to create an amazing reflection on the water below.
Cool photo Kavika. Nice that you caught the moment

A very interesting concept, G, and lovely color editing.
Thank you, Raven Wing.
truly. I'm a big fan of hot pink.
I love the color.
Thanks, Perrie

Great, Dig.
A really great series of really beautiful birds, Dig.
A super array of birds. I'm lucky to see a sparrow or even a pigeon these days.
Great photos, Dig! Lot's of birds... I love birds!
A not so old one.....
Inuit or Tlingit?
It's Tlingit, Buzz.
I layered three different photos to come up with this one; I just can't leave well enough alone … and don't intend to start doing so any time soon.

And you shouldn't. Your advanced artistic talents are a very enjoyable wonder for us all. Looking forward to enjoying many more to come.

Bit of a rough day at home … all is ok otherwise, but, I couldn't watch the article.
Thanks to all who kept it going; see you Thursday night.
