Those fields would be in the outskirts of Chengdu city, which is the capital city of the province of Sichuan. Sichuan is victimized by huge earthquakes. The massive one in in 2008 that killed thousands of people was felt 1000 miles away by me when I was teaching in Zhengzhou, and there was a more recent bad one as well. A few years back we lived for a year in Chengdu, which is actually one of the best cities in China in which to live.
