New immersive exhibition adds a modern twist to ancient grotto art
An immersive exhibition featuring Chinese grotto art opened to the public at the National Museum of China in Beijing on December 9, 2023. The exhibition, titled "Magnificence and Grandeur-Immersive Experience of Grotto Art", is spread over 1,500 square meters. Artists express and illustrate the artistic style and rich connotation of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Maijishan Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes using modern technologies including digital imaging and AI algorithm, taking visitors on an experiential journey into the magnificent world of Chinese grotto art. I no longer travel, but if I did I sure as hell would want to experience that exhibition.
This is interesting, but I don't know if it's interesting enough for me to want to experience it in person.
We differ on that. I believe it was created for people to personally be there and walk through in order to get the most out of the experience. For example, once when I was in NYC many years ago I went to the Hologram Museum (Studio?). Although one could see photos of it, actually walking into and through a Hologram of the universe was an experience I will never forget. I do agree with you that it would not be worth a special trip to China to see it.
Will post a link to this article shortly in "Three-Day Weekend".
Good idea, then maybe as many as 3 or 4 members might appreciate something that isn't political.
