It's been gray, foggy and wet here this week, but warm. Highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s, which almost feels like beach weather after the cold spell that preceded it.
Got a photo of this Bonaparte's Gull at Reflection Pond in Stone Creek. I had a gull expert tell me what it was since it looked quite different than the gulls we see in Florida. As I said it's a Bonaparte Gull and it is very rare in FL, it is mostly in the northern states, and when it mating time its head will turn black and it is the only gull in the world that nests in trees.
Sunrise at the lakeside chalet I used to own in Ontario's lake district. The mist is rising from the lake and the call of the loons is echoing from afar. And this is a photo that I took, while sitting out on the dock with a mug of Gull Lake Coffee, i.e. two thirds fresh brewed coffee and one third Bailey's Irish Cream.
Morning... another one of my favourite places to go if I am feeling abit down...love to watch the sea bashing on the rocks and if it's the right time... whales go past..🐳🐳
Not my photo..this about 10ks away from where I live...
nah, I know what he looks like. I wouldn't be afraid to get into a canoe with him. I was referring to the bleached whales in shorts and hawaiian shirts that school in florida every winter.
Looks cold!
....and barren.
My son is on a tour there now.

brrr, no thanks...
Fog and mist are similar I believe, so what can mist/fog do to/for a photo?
It can indicate depth and distance in a view from my balcony.
.
...and in a view of the reservoir that is a 15 minute walk from our home.

It can help to form a backdrop for the subject of a photo.
.
It can make distant buildings almost disappear.
.
It can mask the sun and create a mysterious feeling.
.
And it can make lights flare in this night shot of downtown Chongqing
In imagery, it is called "atmospheric perspective".

I do miss the sunsets here. I have not seen one spectacular sunset like you and Kavika have posted here. This is the best I've seen from my balcony.

That is my and your bird lesson for the day.
No racial discrimination from that bird.

A winning image!
You are too kind. Thank you.
You can't see it that well, but there is a rainbow to the left of the sun, right near the pine tree.....
I can see the rainbow on my end...
as someone that's spent a lot of time in the rocky mountains, I resisted the urge to tease you about yours...
That one would win a contest - fabulous.
Morning Buzz... absolutely.. brilliant photo by Thomas..

Photos by the Stone Creek Adventure Club at Silver Springs.
Silver Springs is about 1/2 hour drive from our house.
Half an hour or half a mile?
half an hour.
Morning...they certainly look very well fed...
you should see some of the retirees down there...
What sloshing around in the surf, sand and sun living the good life..beats snow, ice and flipping blizzards..
You can have that..at least we don't get that on our rock..
Are you having a dig at Kavika? 😁

LOL, shona it's not me I'm a bit over 6 ft and 165 lbs. long and lanky.
I was referring those winter floridians that all have peg-legged guys holding a harpoon standing on their asses.
... thar he/she blows...
'Bout that time again; thanks to all and see you Thursday night.
