Qin Kun is a post-90s young handicraftsman from Guilin of Guangxi. Whe he was little, he developed a strong interest in paper folding. Starting from 2003, he officially undertook the career of paper folding and learned from a French master. Now Qin Kun's paper folding works are vivid enough to amaze the world.

All I can say is WOW!!!
Wow Too !
They are genuine works of art, so intricate and beautiful.
Had I known about him when I was in Guilin in Guanxi Province to board the cruise down the Li River through the weird Karst mountains I would definitely have wanted to see his works up close with my own eyes.
The patience and attention to detail is amazing and inspiring, the arts don’t get enough love in our education system. Even if you don’t have the gift, you can learn to appreciate the work, and talent involved to create something beautiful.
Not just the education system. It's also up to the parents to encourage artistic efforts on the part of their children - enter them in after-school and/or weekend classes, take them to art galleries, concerts, etc.
Amazing! I didn't know anything like this existed beyond what we commonly see in origami. Imagine what might happen if art were far more a part of everyone's culture? If everyone practiced some sort of creative art? That and if group singing were a part of culture. Singing really brings people closer, I think.
I agree with you. I never got far with piano when I was a kid, and it wasn't until I took up photography seriously that I really got involved in creative arts. My mother oil painted portraits.
That is amazing. I would love to see more!
You want to see more? Come to China.
He is an exceptional artist and his work is amazing. As we've noted many times before, the Chinese cultural tradition is truly mind-boggling.
Over the years I have posted articles about artists here with absolutely sensational talents.
Yes, you have. Thanks for that.
Many times, notwithstanding the dearth of interest, but I won't give up even if it means only a few appreciate culture.
The western relationship with paper in history has been quite different than the eastern relationship with paper. One such differentiating example is the use of paper in architecture.
Western culture tends to carve, mold, shape, cut, attach, or overlay paper rather than fold paper. Here's an example of paper carving which can achieve, what should be, familiar results.
Maybe the variety of methods that the Chinese use to create art from paper is because paper was around for a long time in China, since China is where it was invented about 2000 years ago. Paper cutting is very popular, especially during the New Year / Spring Festival holiday.

I also saw another fascinating article about a traditional way of creating a very special kind of paper out of bamboo. LINK ->
The bamboo paper is interesting. It would be great to see some finished pieces and how they may be used.
It appears to be somewhat thicker than regular paper, and I imagine more like cloth than paper. Although it's in Chongqing, at this point of my life I doubt that I would travel to where this process is located, as I'm pretty well staying put these days.
Will post a link to this shortly.
Thank you - it has already been more popular than any such articles I've posted.
Amazing, just amazing.
A lot of others think so as well.
Beautiful
Extreme talent.
