In honor of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the United Arab Emirates in 2024, acclaimed light-painting artist Roy Wang has embarked on a creative journey in Dubai, crafting a captivating series of intercultural photography works.
Under the project titled "Culture Light Painting Art UAE", Wang skillfully merges Arabic calligraphy with the iconic Chinese dragon, against the mesmerizing backdrop of Dubai's nocturnal cityscape. His innovative approach aims to blend elements of both Chinese and Arabic traditions, symbolizing a harmonious fusion of cultures.
Having been granted a prestigious Golden visa by the UAE in 2023, Wang actively participated in cultural events within the Emirates, including the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale in 2023 and the esteemed World Art Dubai art fair in 2024. Through these engagements, Wang seeks to deepen his understanding of cultural nuances and further enrich his artistic repertoire.
Expressing his vision, Wang aspires for his light-painted creations to infuse a fresh vibrancy into Dubai's contemporary architectural landscape, serving as a visual tribute to the enduring cultural bonds shared between China and the UAE.
