CREATIVE ARTS GROUP 3 DAY WEEKEND - UNIQUE PICTURES (& WHATEVER ELSE)
The image at the top left is a trip down memory lane, and the image below is an image from the wall surrounding the campus of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, which is a 10 minute walk from our home.

This is the start of the Creative Arts 3 Day Weekend. You are invited to post your unique and/or unusual pictures or creations, or whatever is a creative work of art.
I'll start the ball rolling with these:
This is an unedited photo:
.
Baseball, a sport invented by the Chinese during the Ming Dynasty
.
A lit up wall inside a cave in Guilin, Guangxi Province, PRC
.
Towers at night in downtown Chongqing
.
A reflecting pond
.
A Ghost Concert (also an unedited photo)
Those are great. I especially like the second one and the fifth one.
Works 1 - 3 (all images © G. Gam 2024)
Yours are great as well, besides being unique.

Evening... afraid I don't have the artist flare but I will shove in my two bobs worth.. I took these down the beach the other day..
All by myself...
And the paws you always miss when walking along the sand and someone else's doggie has passed by..
Makes you think how it was, when your own doggie use to walk beside you in years gone by...
💔🐾🐾💔
That is very effective.
It was rather odd...just one set of paw prints by themselves..the waves had washed away the before and after prints and just left these..
Maybe the dog just appeared and then disappeared. It makes me think of the French words for the song Autumn Leaves:
Interesting. And then there's a faux pas (its worked its way into our language...used by people who don 't know French but know the meaning of that phrase).
There are lots of words in foreign languages used in English and understood - kindergarten, souffle, spaghetti, flamenco, typhoon, etc.
"Pas de deux" translates "Footsteps for duet" or "Dance for two"...
My favourite is "albóndigas" It sounds so cool!
My favourite is a Spanish word: "albóndigas".
I like it because it sounds so cool!
Although that really doesn't fit into this category as its certainly not used in English.
Cool it is.
Je ne sais pas.
My French has deteriorated over the years but IIRC "albondegas" in French?
C'est "boulette de viande"
(I'm not sure if albondegas is singular or plural)
I've moved the old office shallow to my corner of the basement at home and started working on a bog setup. I have tubing under the 'land' area to keep it wet, but I won't get around to ordering new plants until the 15th.
What kind of fish will you put in it?
I'm thinking of moving the celestial pearl danios over, but I have to check the water pH first. If the pH is too low I may just put some shrimp there.
Killer shrimp?
Everyone knows what shrimp look like, but for me and others who never heard of celestial pearl danios before. here's what they look like - BEAUTIFUL.
I never met a killer shrimp I wouldn't eat.
Or prawn..
With horseradish sauce.
Nope..just like mine plain..no sauces etc just plain prawn as they have their own flavour of the sea...
Well, as I said above, I don't think I've ever eaten prawn, but shrimp, being less tasty as you say, can use a little taste help.
Pretty sure they are available in China...King prawns are the first choice, Tiger prawns second..
But the real king is crayfish far superior to anything I think..now selling here for $90 a kilo..sob..was down to $60 at one stage..
Well, at least I have the benefit of dressed oysters and scallops on the half shell at very reasonable prices.
In parts of the U.S. Crayfish are very popular. But they are pretty small. They live in rivers in the South (and maybe elsewhere?)
Killer Shrimp
Could be a good name for a low budget movie:
The Revenge of the Killer Shrimp
Or perhaps a good name for your neighbours' kids' band, playing raucous music n their parents' garage:
The Killer Shrimp
That reminds me of an experience I once had on the island of Nantucket. A friend and I were dining in a restaurant and I thought I would try the fried crayfish. They brought out a pan with 5 black scorched spots. Fortunately my friend shared his meal with me.
Arvo Krishna..they are what we call Yabbies..they live in dams, billabongs and rivers and very nice eating..
Why not?
.
Yeah, especially if the kids are kind of small for their ages.
Have you ever tried roasted cicadas?
And on that note, I'm now going to eat my lunch. LOL
Ummm thanks, but no thanks..
It's the name of a restaurant in Marina del Rey.
In China, nobody goes hungry when the cicadas are in season. I've been offered to taste a roasted one, but I have to admit I turned it down.
Cicadas would be on par with our witchetty grubs...pass as well..they can be roasted or eaten as is..
that is a good thing
I like shrimp with Old Bay seasoning better, my BBQ and cookout neighbor has been on a prawn and crawfish kick lately, but I like shrimp
I like shrimp too, have for many years.
"Nantucket" has been the source of many limericks (mainly "obscene").
Here's a popular one:
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
Arvo Krishna..they are what we call Yabbies..they live in dams, billabongs and rivers and very nice eating..
Billabongs is a word with which most Americans are unfamiliar. (I never knew what it meant until one Saturday night when I went to a club and started Waltzing with Matilda!)
No-- and I don't intend to.
(Actually I've heard predictions that with global warming and continuing population increase we soon may not have enough food.
One proposed solution? Eating insects!
I remember when the movie "Attack of The Killer Tomatoes" came out. IIRC it got horrible reviews.
I never saw it but thought it was a cool name.
Good name for a group of smaller kids!
But I've also had an appreciation for irony-- so I also think "The Killer Shrimp" would be a good name for a group of kids who were all over 6 ft 4 inches tall .
(Maybe a good name for a basketball team...?)
Welcome to Cajun country, folks. Musique cadienne with a button accordion, fiddle, and mouth harp. I've spent many a day in the bayou's of Louisana with my ami Arnold Valcour enjoying crawfish pie and fil gumbo and moonshine until couyon.
witchetty grubs? Not for me either, they're for the birds.
It's a picturesque vintage whaling town, cobblestone streets, buildings you would see in England during Dickens' time, and a beautiful beach backed by cottages with roses growing up their walls and over their roofs.
I've only heard the ones about a girl or a lass from Nantucket (not to be repeated here).
The Canadian version of Cajun is Acadian.
Maybe "Jumbo Shrimp" would be a better name for a group of kids that tall. What do you think?
I'll buy that.
They are the same people.
I know, and same fantastic recipes:
Will Rogers?
I don't know. You'll have to ask him.
Morning..now that does not look to bad at all..
We have been in a very bad drought; the Hurricane brought a lot of rain and the Shenandoah River went over the old dam. Earlier in the week it was very low.
"Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you
Away you rolling river"
It appears to be rolling pretty good in that photo.
Great to see you have got much needed rain..
We are way down on our rainfall here and dread to think what the bushfire season is going to be like..
This summer the weather in the States has been horrendous! In many places we have had long periods of record breaking heat. And big rainstorms including tornadoes in places where they never (or rarely) happen. Tremendous flooding...
And the last few years there have been really difficult forest fires (The intense smoke from some of those in Canada has come down along the East coast)
Morning...we had the Kiwis sooking a few years back as they were complaining about the bushfire smoke coming across the ditch..
We just said you know us Aussies like to share, so suck it up...
Fire on the Mountain
When I was looking at the water going over the dam. I saw smoke in the Massanutten Mountain
Called Emergency Dispatcher and they said they had it under control. Don't need a forest fire to go with the flood .
A little smoke, doesn't seem to be much of a fire.
Evening.. unfortunately that's all it takes...and half the country goes up..we see it every year here...
That's especially bad in areas that are very dry-- also very windy.
Or where there is an arsonist.
found a bootleg still site, did ya?
There have been some around here
And is their product delivered by 1969 Dodge Charger R/Ts like the Dukes of Hazzard do?
Haul it with class
Not just class, but power and speed.
The dairy cows were walking through the water to the barn
At least they have water to drink. In parts of Africa the cattle are dying in droves due to the drought.
Remember when, not so long ago, when many politicians kept arguing that "global warming was a hoax"-- that there was no such thing happening?
If they're still around, those very same politicians are probably the ones arguing that the most important issues today are things like whether or not Tampons should be placed in boys bathrooms, rr that Kamela Harris always pretended she wasn't black (and then...big shocaroo she let us know) or whether or not Tim Walz ever carried a weapon when he was in the military, etc, etc.
Ad nauseum...Ad infinitum,
(And just plain stupid!)
May a thousand Albondagas fall on their land and live stock and their cattle... and on the land of their offspring...unto the fortieth generation!
(Unless their wives are childless cat-ladies, in which case all bets are off!)
Besides being just a plain old waste of time.
Well its to be expected from the Albondagas-- they're always like that!!!
Morning...the Olympics are over and we finished fourth on the medal tally behind you mob, China and Japan..
Gotta be happy with that...
Canada, Canada, wherefore art thou Canada?
Canada were 12th behind new Zealand..the Kiwis did well 10 gold medals, Canada 9...
Thie weekend is now over as far west as Hawaii so I am now closing this article. Thanks to all who contributed to it, whether with photos, or votes up or commentary.
