Morning...your very top photo reminded me of the Maori in NZ..

They use this symbol in much of their heritage and it represents the fern frond or Ponga they call tree ferns.

Not my photos.

We used to enjoy eating them when I was back in Canada, haven't seen them here.  We called them fiddlehead greens.

The top two photos look to me like LensCultue prize winners, but the bottom photo makes me think of this:

That's a very disturbing image.  People I have shown my photo to have all commented that it looks like a very peaceful scene.  My photo was taken in China, and, of course, the Chinese Communist Party and the Nazi Party do have a lot in common, both having engaged in the wholesale slaughter of millions of innocent people.

My photo actually reminds me of this:

"Woman in a red coat".   "Little Jewish girl in a red coat"    Both isolated in red against a B&W background.  I guess I'm more sensitive about The Holocaust than you are, and the impression Schindler's List made on me when I watched it.

There is a difference between the Holocaust and what happened to the "millions" of Chinese.  The Holocaust was an intention to annihilate a whole religion of people, while the millions who died during Mao's regime were not intentional murders but were the result of mismanagement during a massive drought - most died of starvation.  Granted Tiananmen Square was intentional, but nowhere near comparison to The Holocaust.  I don't think I would have thrown up what happened to the Native Americans in your face.

Since you want to UNNECESSARILY throw ancient history into my face, the present Chinese government has pulled millions of people out of abject poverty, an effort that took ten years and I have no idea how much money it cost for that success, so that nobody here needs to sleep under bridges or in a tent.  What has America done for the homeless?

pumpkin spice time of year  - I hate that stuff

Reminds me of some twisted tunes - from one of my favorite rock stations back in the day 98 Rock - spoofing Christmas and little Butchie doesn't like pumpkin pie

Essex Wonderland Lyrics

Oh by the way, hey did you know,
Tomorrow night, we're playin bingo
Its a beautiful sight we're goin bowling tonight
We're walkin in a Essex wonderland.

Down the plant, we got the day off
Cuz the foreman got his payoff
We're drinkin all day, then whizzin away
We're walkin in a Essex wonderland.

Let me tell ya somethin at this time hon
Essex is da only way to be
While your at it you should get your hair done
And bleach it blonde so all the folks'll see.

We're gettin Hazel ta make some eggnog
In the fireplace, we'll burn a fake log
Little Butchie will cry, he don't like pumpkin pie
We're walkin in a Essex wonderland

Joey's home from the service
and his girlfriend is gettin nervous
While he was at sea, she contracted VD
They're walkin in a Essex wonderland.

You can make an ornament from a Bud Can
And then yous can hang it from the tree
'Sherry are you pregnant?,' she'll say, 'No Man
But I'm thirteen so ain't it time to be?'

We're callin Donnie up in jail
We're raising money to post his bail
Our neighbor is cranked and uncle Jimmy is tanked
We're walkin in a Essex wonderland (2x)

Happy Holidays, Hon!

Arvo..have been watching the Maggies here for the last couple of months..and finally today spotted baby in the silver birch in my backyard..

Been here 35 years and now lost count of which generation this one will be..the parents know me and they don't swoop as I feed them and they recognise me..

Maggies will swoop as they are extremely protective of their young..it's almost a rite of passage to be swooped here..

They are brilliant warblers and very entertaining to watch..and they are  extremely intelligent..

Baby in my silver birch tree..

Not my photo..dad getting rid of an intruder in his space...384
