Eye CATCHIN' stuff if you have it to share.
I might have to think a minute before throwing a bigger brookie back ...
I know I would. I would take a good photo of it and have it mounted. If it was big enough I might eat it

You're doing interesting things with colour. The middle photo looks similar to beach scenes in Kauai.
What kind of fish are those?
dead ones ...
you're mean
good thing I edited out the einstein part ...
I know they're dead ones. I want to know what species....so I can say yum or yuck
fish is fish, it's all in the preparation.
back in the 80's my home was a block from a spring fed lake that all the local storm gutters drained into and a few blocks from a huge laotian and vietnamese neighborhood. the elected PTB decided it needed to be emptied and dredged so that the accumulated silt and soil could be hauled away for roadbed on a highway project. it didn't take very long to drain the top 4 feet of water, because low and behold, underneath it was 1-6 feet of mud. after the water had mostly drained and before the excavators were brought in, for a few weeks there were dozens of asian women with laundry baskets and nets harvesting the fish that were in that lake from sun up to sun down. it was amazing the size of some of the fish they were hauling out. although they were mostly carp, suckers, and sunfish, I couldn't help but become infected by the joy they were experiencing in harvesting a bounty that would have been left to rot by others.
fast forward 20 years, I take my son and one of his friends out to my houseboat in southeast utah on a fishing trip. my son's friend was one of the kids from the asian community that was harvesting those fish in that lake. anyway, we get to the boat and this kid freaks out over the size of the carp that hang out around the marina where I had my boat slipped, since I liked to keep it in the water there during the summer. my son and I both were very hesitant on the idea of a carp being a culinary delight, but since the lake was clean we accepted the challenge of a carp dinner if we happened to catch one on our fishing trip that was focused on stripers and small and large mouth bass. we caught a ton of fish, but only kept what we were going to eat that day, and this kid caught a huge carp. after cleaning it, filleting it, and de-boning it, it went into the dredge and then the fryer. after sampling it, my son and I looked at each other in disbelief for how good it was. the next day he made us sunfish filets for lunch. another shocking epicurean delight that broadened my horizons. my son and his friend are still close friends and my son tells me that every time they talk to each other that fishing trip is still mentioned.
I don't know. They were not labeled. And if they were labeled it would be in Cambodian.
Morning...we have European carp here unfortunately and the damage they do to the rivers and creeks is staggering...not to mention the native fish...
One company harvests them from the rivers, lakes etc and then turns them into fertilizer... it's meant to be excellent for the garden and helps get rid of them..
They looking revolting damn things but some people love to eat them...pass...
basically they're no frills regular koi, as opposed to the decorator koi ...
Certainly not an attractive looking fish..
ត្រីងាប់ = dead fish in cambodian (khmer)
happy to help out ...
how do you think we look to them, mate ...
Well they could be attracted to some of these influences..you to can look like this for 20 grand..
Could definitely appeal to a carp...what a drongo.. apparently he is French..
... no comment.
Check the article at the link below.
This is my best fish photo
Morning...this is mine..but I wasn't stupid enough to take it..
Somebody was, or it's an AI creation. Grandpappy was right to say don't believe anything your read or hear. Now, not only do you have to add "or see" unless it's actual and live seen with your own eyes because of photoshop but also because of AI, and be careful of holographs.
No AI creation...and poor old grand pappy got it arse about in this case ...you can literally go swimming with the sharks here in cages...
Best places are Neptune island over in South Australia where these photos were taken..
We live in the real world Buzz not some fantasy world of make believe and AI..
None are my photos and none are AI..besides I am not paying hundreds of dollars to see jaws up close...
You can have your sharks, shona. These days the only fish I'm interested in seeing are the ones I'm eating.
Can't beat a good piece of flake (shark)... it's the only fish I eat..
I've eaten many kinds of fish, from the Mahi Mahi I caught off the Kona (Hawaii) coast to catfish to pickerel, to pike, to muskie, to whitefish, to bass, to perch, to lake trout, to tuna, to sardines, to salmon (grilled or smoked) and others here I don't know the name of, Variety is the spice of life.
you're tempting karma pretty hard, mate ...
Nah.. it'll be right... it's Autumn now no more kiddie biscuits for the season..
Though a guy got nibbled on the leg the other day right where I go swimming..
But he was there at 7am and they didn't even give him stitches..poor shark was probably teething...
... sounds like an older shark. first one thru the door when the snack shop opens, but no teeth left to chew ...
You could say that eating shark is getting even .
I call him Chromebaby. Found this 15” tall guy at an antique store with a super cheap price tag, then my wife pointed out that the dealer was having a 50% off sale on everything. Twelve bucks! We recently bought a vapor fireplace and put it in front of the gas fireplace we never use. It looks better than real fire, and it’s just water vapor lit by orange light. Sitting him on top of the “flames” gives it a unique look.
Morning Hal...do you have a photo of the fireplace?..never heard of a vapour fire place or what it looks like and I am intrigued now...
Here it is in action. Plug it in, fill it with distilled water, and it runs for a few hours before it needs a refill. Available on Amazon.
I've had both log-burning and gas fireplaces in the homes I've owned, but I've never heard of a vapour fire place either.
We saw it on HGTV. I think it’s pretty new technology. With the orange light it really does look like fire. You can change the color but I like orange.
Oh wow they looks great Hal..throws out a warm ambience..
Unfortunately I don't have a fire place as most houses here don't..
If I did I would certainly look into it...thank you for the trouble you went to though..
You’re welcome, Shona. However, you don’t need an actual fireplace for it. They’re made to sit anywhere, I just put it in front of ours.
Ahh but you had a perfect setting for it..and looks so inviting..
Mine would look rather average I am afraid..and somewhat out of place...
You might be surprised how dramatically it can change the character of a space. I just sent one to my daughter for her birthday, to set on a small table against a wall in her screened in porch. That’s her meditation space. It’s quite mesmerizing.
I worked in a chrome plating place for a few weeks back in the 70's, are you sure that's hollow?

"You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish."
Of course one cane tuna fish, they're just covered with SCALES; make a NOTE of that … in the key of SEA.
As you all know, I could go on.
So, you're not FINished yet?
sheesh, he's still sports drunk from the super bowl victory ...
Perched for more and will not flounder; can spawn these up down the pike. may no one CAST aspersions as I am the LEADER. No TROLLING.
Well you swallowed that hook, line and sinker...
Please don't. Oh, you did.
Are you doing a bait & switch?
no I didn't, you've gone yobbo mate ...
I was more "the smoker you drink, the player you get" ...
Oh no...just realised today is the first day of Autumn...sob..
Summer has officially gone...sob...
Will have to drag out the Winter Woolies soon..sob..
don't you get a few weeks of nice weather before the temperature drops and the snow flies?
Morning...errr we don't get snow where I live... sometimes we do get a decent Autumn and the temp hovers around 18c for awhile and then drops to around 13c..in June...
We are in desperate need of rain though we haven't had anywhere near what we normally get...
no snow? ever? 55f to 65f is a cold winter? and you're complaining? 2 weeks ago I was below 0 and it snowed 4 times that week. bloody hell ...
We get snow on the mountains down Eastern Victoria and parts of New South Wales and Tasmania but that is basically it... actually the snow fields here are larger than what they have in Europe...
Well it's cold when it's about 12c and wet and windy...and it's grey and sob...and you can't go swimming unless you have a wet suit...
I have never seen snow here, the first time was when I was in Europe way off in the distance...the first time I actually saw snow falling was in England...
But otherwise nope not a snow flake insight where I live... My SIL from Ukraine said it use to get minus 30c where she use to live.. can't comprehend that I am afraid.. anything below 10c forget it...
... and looking much like a seal to mr. great white.
Poor Jaws..he has to eat something...
The guy survived in WA had some leg injuries...
from surfboard to junk food in one bite ...
Thanks to all. Back Thursday.
