Sorry for the delay … trying to stay above (metaphorical) water.

Post your creativity … images, poetry, prose, commentary.

Very beautiful, Buzz. I can almost hear the soft wind singing through the leaves. Not sure, but, are they Aspens?

Thanks, RW. Sorry but I have no idea what kind of trees they are.  They were in one of the university campuses close to where I live.

Far Out.  birds were what I had in mind for today.  You all may remember this video from last year.

They're back.  My daughter got this one yesterday.

Great video TTGA. I had hummingbirds for many years. Can't have the feeders here and I sure do miss them. They truly are interesting little birds, they each have their own little personality. I had 4 feeders and all were busy every day. I would sit out on the porch and now and then one would fly in and hover in front of my face as if to say "Hi". I had names for the regulars. They had an array of colors among them and knew there was always plenty of food at my house. I made my own nectar everyday.

I am sure I was not the only place where they visited, but, at least one of the regular places. All we get here are Ravens and Sparrows. jrSmiley_89_smiley_image.gif

Your last year video of the hummingbird worked perfectly for me. I can't understand why I couldn't open your new one.  Did you change your method of posting it?

Not sure Buzz.  It was listed as an MP-4.  Rae got it with her phone, while sitting in her hammock in the yard.  I'll try to run it through my video program and re-posting it.

What most interested me about this one is how she slowed it down.  I think I'm going to try that too.  I loved the effect.

See if this one will open Buzz.  I ran it through my Movie Maker program.  The first one came from Rae's camera to this computer but through my Hotmail account.  That might have made a difference.

Far Out.  I think that the origin might be the problem.  It could either be the program in Rae's phone or running it through Hotmail.  Either of those could be handled by the Chinese Government as a YouTube video.  When I run it through a Movie Maker 10 program, I remove all those labels.  The program is available for free at the Microsoft Store.

I figured out what the problem is, Buzz (well, OK, my daughter told me).  It has nothing to do with the MP-4 part or the labels.  The first one was created in a movie version of the JPEG picture program by her Samsung phone.  The second one, which I ran through my movie maker program, was automatically switched to a WMV format.  The JPEG format for pictures and videos is only used in the US and a few other localities in the vicinity (Canada, Mexico, etc.).  The WMV format was created for international use and is usable in almost any country in the world, including all those countries like the US where JPEG is prevalent as well as in the Orient and Europe where WMV is the default format.  In other words, JPEG is a language that your computer, and perhaps your ISP, doesn't understand.  WMV is a picture/video language that all computers understand, so all that is needed is to switch our posts to WMV, which is very easy to do, and you should have no problem with them.

All my posted photos are JPEG, and I can switch most that aren't to JPEG.  There are some other systems I can't open in any way.

Terrific photo of a storm coming.  I always loved thunderstorms - they never frightened me and I enjoyed them more at my grandmother's bayside cottage when I was a kid, and at my lakeside home than anywhere else.

You were just never in the right place to be scared by them Buzz.  Being out on any of the Great Lakes, particularly Superior, can be unpleasant.  The Bering Sea is another place where you can get properly frightened by storms, even in a large vessel.  After that, you never quite look at storms in the same way again, even when you're safely on land.  They're fascinating either way, but the hint of danger makes them even more so.

No, I've never been in a thunderstorm in the middle of a lake or sea - I assume it looks like what was depicted in the movie Guardian that starred Kevin Costner as a US Coast Guard helicopter-borne rescue diver at the Bering Sea.   However, I'm thankful I wasn't among the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Gitchigoomi.

Yep, that's pretty much how it looks.  You usually can't see more than a couple of miles in that kind of weather, but all of it looks like nothing but waves.  Just as impressive is how it feels.  Your inner ear does a little dance every 15 to 30 seconds as the ship rolls (sometimes up to 35 degrees , much more and she won't come back up) while the bow rises with a wave and comes off it with a crash.  This can go on for days.  You get so used to it that you can sleep through it.  In fact, it can put you to sleep just like being in a rocking chair, until it catches you in the wrong position without a secure hand hold.  Then it will throw you into a bulkhead or, if you're topside, over the side.  What keeps you from getting too scared is confidence in your ship and in your Captain.
