When there were threats regarding the killing of the Affordable Care Act, I proposed that the names of all Americans who would subsequently died for lack of health insurance, be placed on billboards with the names of the Congress member in corresponding states who voted to kill the Act.
I caught a lot of shit for that proposal.
But apparently, it was an idea ahead of its time.

If "A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words", A THOUSAND DEATHS is Worth a PICTURE!
The intentional sabotage of testing and tracking, the withholding of PPEs and the failure to present a unified, consistent protocol to fight the pandemic means that there are more infected Americans and more dead Americans than have been reported.
And then there is the propaganda that jeopardizes both the willing, partisan dupes, and the simply uninformed believers.
I remember that after 9/11 the Times published pages and pages listing the victims. For each person they published a picture of them and a brief bio. It really made the magnitude of the horror more real--- these were real people, not just statistics.
In the next few weeks, we may see a movement of the proverbial "needle" as those who gathered in close proximity at beaches, etc. on the Memorial Day weekend, may, or, may not, contract COVID-19 in significant numbers. Either way, we may learn something of the efficacy of social distancing. Simply uninformed, or, ill informed Americans, willing assimilators of Fox News propaganda, or, those who took Trump's intentional, re-election happy talk literally regarding the pandemic, will have been, one way or another, the human "lab rats" to provide the research.

The most powerful thing can be to give it a human touch.
It is more than just statistics. It is real people with families and loved ones.
It could be a family member or friend instead of out of sight out of mind.
Show the real people behind the tragedy and truth that cannot be dismissed.

Exactly.
This is a powerful statement. I hope it counts later this year.

The clock is ticking.
