Quilt I'm working on

45_blogs.png?width=750

This quilt is one I'm making for one of my granddaughters. I have just about finished the quilting and hope to mail it off to her in about a month. I like the bright colors--her room is a pale purple with blue/turquoise curtains.

I've made quilts since the late 70's. I've been working 40 hrs a week at a job for 12 years so I don't have as much time to work on them as I once did. But the process still fascinates me.

What are your hobbies?

What a gorgeous quilt!

I think the process is fascinating, too-- but I don't have time to do much... All I can say is WOW!

My mother has my great-great grandmother's quilt that took 1st place in the Danville State Fair in the 1850s. It is magnificent! I've taken some pictures and will post a couple, because you would understand and appreciate the work that she did. She hand wove all the fabric, dyed it, and make the dyed scraps into the quilt.

Picture #2 is pretty bad, my camera was losing charge, and the flash wouldn't 'do'...

I love quilts, and always have! Smile.gif

Wow Dowser--what a beautiful example of a "grandmother's flower garden"! She certainly made this herself! Have you had a historian look at it for preservation tips? It's really fabulous and looks to be in great shape for its age!!
