Explore Suzhou's water towns
Boasting a pristine natural environment, pleasant climate all year round and relaxed way of life, Suzhou in Jiangsu province is described in a famous Chinese saying as the "paradise on Earth".
The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through Suzhou. Forty-two percent of the city is covered by water, with numerous lakes, canals and streams. The water towns in Suzhou such as Zhouzhuang and Tongli are renowned for their arched stone bridges and bustling canal-side streets.
Kunqu Opera, oiled paper umbrella, nut carving, Taohuawu woodcut and crispy cakes in the ancient towns also present a unique charm of Suzhou.
BUZZ NOTE: Politics is off topic.
My wife and I visited Suzhou about ten years ago. It has been called The Venice of China, and also The Garden City. Previously I have posted photo essays on NT of the beautiful gardens and of a night canal cruise, but the video shows much that we missed, so I wish we had stayed a little longer to see more of the city. Here are a few of the photos I took during our visit to Suzhou:

We visited China four years ago and spent an afternoon in Suzhou and an afternoon in Zhouzhuang, two of the most interesting places I have ever been.
These photos are from the very beautiful Humble Administrator's Garden, where we spent most of our afternoon in Suzhou.
These photos are from Zhouzhuang.
LOL. I knew you would join me on this seed. Thanks for your post.
And I knew that you knew, too. China has so many picturesque locales it is like a photographer's dream.
So I have discovered, and yet during almost 15 years I have only been able to see let alone photograph such a tiny amount of those picturesque locales. On this group I have posted many seeds showing the wondrous sights of China. The group description tells how to access them as many are archived. As well, over the years I have posted on the Creative Arts group photo essays of my adventures here.
