Vienna, capital of Austria, has taken the top spot in an annual ranking of the world's most livable cities, followed by Copenhagen in Denmark and Zurich in Switzerland.
In a survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, 173 global cities were rated on livability based on their performance in different categories, which include stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

I do wonder if I could take my pension and Soc Sec and get the hell out of America to go live in Canada.
I guess that depends on whether the USA allows that. Canada does, even though I live elsewhere as an expat Canadian I still get my Canada pension.
May I suggest Vancouver, where the weather is more moderate than the rest of Canada, and you can ski on Grouse mountain on Vancouver's outskirts in the morning and golf down below in the afternoon.
How hard is it for a retiree to move to Canada?
I wouldn't be taking anyone's job away, but I would be looking to buy into Canadian Medicare.
I don't know how hard it is. Canada uses a point system and it depends on whether you qualify. I don't think retirees would be in demand there.

If you are a U.S. citizen you will receive your Social Security payments even if you live in another country. There is no reason I know of why you would not also receive your private pension benefits.
Canada has THREE of the ten most liveable cities - only Switzerland comes close with TWO. And my city of Toronto in which I spent most of my life is one of the world's most livable cities.
Vienna is stunningly beautiful. I was especially impressed by all of the public sculptures, most of them with gold elements like in the photo in this article. I spent a week there a few years ago, following a week in Prague.
It would be especially good if you like to waltz in the moonlight.
We didn't do that, but we did greatly enjoy a performance of Carmen at the Vienna Operahouse on our last night there.
I was sort of joking about waltzing in the moonlight, which was something from the movie The Magic of Belle Isle, but thinking of the movie Goodbye Mr. Chips, where they DID waltz in a famous place for doing so in Vienna, I'm curious if you and wife saw that the Danube was blue.
Joking? You were? Haha. I know your sense of humor by now.
Was the Danube blue? No. As far as I can remember it was brownish, like muddy brown.
If you watch the movie Goodbye Mr. Chips you will hear them say that the Danube appears blue only to those people who are in love.
Evening...been to all these cities except the Canadian ones..and they are far superior to Melbourne.
Melbourne a liveable city...they must be dreaming...🤣🤣🤣
Melbourne may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you sure appreciate it after having live/worked in Port Moresby. I remember squads from the army and the police taking each other on. Then the "rascals" move in to pick up the pieces ( usually wallets, watches etc !! )
Evening Way..true..but there are far better places than Melbourne here...I even prefer Sydney, Adelaide to Melbourne...
No PNG would certainly not be my cup of tea either especially with "pay back" well and truly alive.
Stay warm going to be another chilly one..
