Illinois man charged with killing neighbor over a noisy leaf blower
Ettore Lacchei LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
A man in unincorporated Antioch in Illinois was charged on Tuesday with shooting and killing his neighbor over a noisy leaf blower earlier this month .
59-year-old William Martys was working in his yard with a leaf blower when he was shot in the head and killed during an argument with his neighbor, 79-year-old Ettore Lacchei, who the Lake County Sheriff's Office said had "various perceived grievances" with Martys.
"We understand from interviewing witnesses that this neighbor had confrontations with many different neighbors that live up and down that street," said Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Chris Covelli, CBS News Chicago reported . "This wasn't the first time that he was seen with a firearm."
Lacchei was arrested on Tuesday "without incident," and remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing, according to authorities. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
"Our condolences go out to the family and friends of William Martys, who was senselessly murdered. The members of the sheriff's office are relentless when it comes to seeking justice for victims," said Sheriff John D. Idleburg.
"Once again, easy access to firearms has turned a dispute into a deadly crime. We will support the victims and seek justice in the courtrooms," said Lake County State's Attorney Eric Rinehart.

Add this to ringing a person's doorbell, or making a turn in their driveway, or chasing a ball onto a neighbour's lawn. Better use a shovel rather than your snowblower, and make sure your car's muffler is in good shape. It's getting so if someone doesn't like your looks they're going to shoot you. I note in the news today another mass shooting in Texas, and elsewhere a policeman and his wife were found shot to death in their home. I'm really feeling sorry for the people living in America who HAVE to have a gun to defend themselves, and who face the possibility of being shot for any reason whatsoever. What a way of life - what a pity.
How sad, to shoot and kill someone over a fricking leafblower.
There are members on this site whom I believe would consider that murderer a hero.

I don't know about a hero, however, if enough people hear about this story, they may think twice about making that kind of noise early in the morning.
Done as requested.
Good point.

I have a Neighbor who used to blow his whole yard every saturday morning. Two hours of screaming leaf blower can drive you crazy, thankfully he has now hired a landscape company and they do it in ten minutes. I never wanted to shoot him but if given the chance I would have murdered that blower.
How about the guy who killed (I think 5 or was it 8 people) including an 8 year old child because they asked him to stop shooting his gun at 11:30 at night because their baby was trying to sleep?
Claimed he could do whatever he pleased in his own yard and then went to their house blasting and killed those people including an 8 year old child.
I think that there are probably some here who will call him a hero as I believe some other ignoramus claimed that they were illegal migrants, the ones who were killed.
There have been 146 mass shootings in the USA this year up until now, i.e. in 120 days. I'll bet the shootings that aren't considered "mass shootings" way outnumber that. What's it like to be a target in a human shooting gallery?
