Pride And Prejudice' Turns 200: A Cartoon Celebration
This week marks an important milestone for anyone who swoons at the very mention of Mr. Darcy. Pride and Prejudice is turning 200, and to celebrate its bicentennial, cartoonist Jen Sorensen drew up an illustrated version of the classic.

Although this article is at least a decade old, it is still just as valid as it was back then, and very much worth posting.
I posted this understanding that not all members of NT are versed in English Literature, nor are all interested in reading or even knowing anything about Austen's novels at all. In case they have not seen the movies adapted from the novel, I have intended to do the utmost to familiarize everyone with one of the greatest novels in English literature. You will note that there are quotation marks around some of the phrases in the cartoons - those are actual quotations from the original novel.
So now having a glimpse of a great novel that is easy to follow and understand, ENJOY. Perhaps it will nudge someone into actually reading the whole novel, or at least watching one of the movies.
Of course, anyone who is familiar with either the novel or the more accurate adaptations might get even more of a kick out of that short comic book story.
I've heard a lot of positive things about Pride and Prejudice, but I've been very busy lately. (I read a lot, but lately only read non-fiction).
Well, then, I hope you enjoyed the comic book version at least.
Mildly off topic ... I have been watching a Brit series named Silent Witness with the main character, pathologist Nikki Alexander, played by Emilia Fox who portrayed Georgiana Darcy in BBC's Pride and Prejudice.
Silent Witness started in 1996 and continues today with 27 seasons in total.
As tenuous as the connection might be, I don't consider your comment to be off topic. Actually I rarely delete off topic comments, unless they're mean-spirited.
Wow-- that's quite a run!
It must be good, then,
