Noem's purse with $3K, government badge stolen from DC restaurant
Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem's belongings were stolen at a restaurant in Washington, D.C. on Sunday night.
WASHINGTON - Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's belongings were stolen over the weekend at a restaurant in Washington, D.C, including her passport, driver's license, keys and government access badge.
Both the Secret Service and DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the April 20 incident to USA TODAY.
McLaughlin told NewsNation that Noem's purse contained $3,000 in cash and blank checks.
CNN reported that Noem's medication and makeup bag were also stolen.
McLaughlin told USA TODAY that Noem's entire family was in town, including her children and grandchildren, and that she was treating them to dinner, activities and Easter gifts.
The Secret Service has launched an investigation to "trace any use of Noem's financial instruments," according to CNN.
Before becoming secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, Noem served as the governor of South Dakota and as a Republican member of Congress.

Although I rarely post political articles, this morning when I arose at 6 a.m., washed my face and brushed my teeth, before eating my breakfast I checked my email and read the emailed news reports from Canada's Global News and USA Today, I saw this and burst out laughing. Please tell me how brilliant it was for Trump to appont a person to be the head of Homeland Security who is incapable of keeping her own belongings secure. LOL. I can't wait to see the comments on this. This is going to be a good day.
Good Gawd, there isn't anything more embarrassing than losing your government get out of jail card
unless you lose your cash, wallet and check book too after "treating" two dozen people to dinner.
I thought the three grand in cash was to pay for the dinner.
Who pays $3K in cash to a caterer?
Where did it come from? The DHS walking around money account?
Maybe she has bad credit.
Apparemtly it was also for the purpose of buying gifts.
She probably paid someone to steal her purse to try and get out of paying.
The Homeland Security appointee can't keep her own purse secure.
What was she doing? She wasn't keeping an eye on her purse with that many valuables? Even if she went to the restroom her purse should have been taken with her, especially carrying that much cash.
Just establishing my point as to the joke of her appoinitment.
