The Casual Vacancy
I was surprised to read a J K Rowling novel that wasn't about Harry Potter. Although the characters span 3 generations, there is perhaps more of a focus on teenagers. It is about the lives of persons who live in a small English village, and the machinations of the teenagers who do things that complicate the lives of their parents and grandparents. There is quite a variety of characterizations and Rowling is able to make them believable, if flawed. The story starts with a funeral and ends with another one. It's a long read, but worth it.
