China's Show of Shows - New Year's Eve - Part 2
From the previous articles:
The Greatest Show on Earth is shown on TV every New Year's Eve in China. It is around 6 hours long, and is one of the most colourful and brilliant displays of singing, dancing, acrobatics, seen anywhere in the world. People in China look forward to it all year round. It is an evening when families get together from far and wide, eat fantastic food, and then sit and watch the program that is probably seen by a billion people, everywhere that CCTV (Chinese Central TeleVision) can be seen, besides throughout all of China. The "Show" not only includes music, singing, dancing and acrobatics, but also a magician, and theatrical skits - comedies and drama. I did not take any photos of the theatrical skits as they would not be meaningful without hearing the dialogue, and I didn't understand it anyway.
After the show started I got the idea of taking photos of the big screen of our TV for the purpose of making an article, so I did miss some good ones. However, the show was rebroadcast the next day during daytime for people who were unable to stay up late, or for those who wanted to see it again, but I turned it on too late for the beginning. I'll do better next year. Some of the images may appear a bit fuzzy, but that's because there was so much motion and action on screen, and besides, they are photos of a TV screen. Only a few will have my commentary.
And now, the display of my final photos taken of the "big show" from my 40" TV screen, for your viewing:
1.
2. This was in Tiananmen Square with the Great Hall of the People in the background. Behind the photographer is the Forbidden City. I have always enjoyed watching how the flag-raiser throws the flag upward at the start of raising the flag.
3. This was an interlude of scenes from around China.

7. And now back to the stage.

28. Sinoman? My favourite lines from the Chris Reeves Superman first movie was when Lois Lane fell out of the window and Superman caught her, and said "Don't worry Miss, I've got you" and her reply was "You've got me? Who's got you?"
29. The Acrobat show

Please let me know if you enjoyed the show.
That's what I call a party, almost need sunglasses for some of those displays. They've probably already started planning next years shows.
GREAT pics, thanks Buzz.
Unbelievable extravaganza Buzz.
When the Chinese do it, it's spectacular. I first learned that when I watched the whole show they put on for the 2008 Olympics. I don't know if anyone outside of China saw much of it.
Superb, Buzz.
Thanks again.
