Fantasy/Surrealism -- In the Digital Imagery Age, the Possibilities are Endless
surrealism |srlizm|
noun
a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature that sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images.
fantasy |fants|
noun ( pl. -sies)
the faculty or activity of imagining things, esp. things that are impossible or improbable
In 2008, I tore my right quadriceps tendon and that knocked out me out-of-commission for several months immobilizer on my leg, then a walker, then physical therapy/rehab so, no out in the woods with a camera and tripod.
During that time, I worked all-digital-all-the-time using earlier photographs and image-editing techniques to come up with what I'd generally call "fantasy" "surrealism" and other "illusory" type pictures.
Here are a few of those.
The Administration Building of the Cosmos (A. Macarthur, 2008)
Walk to the Light (A. Macarthur, 2008)
Turn Back the Hands of Time (A. Macarthur, 2008)
The Hand of Fate (A. Macarthur, 2008)
End of the Road? (A. Macarthur, 2008)

It's true, I have lots of bad dreams.
I love your surreal works. Simply amazing concepts. I'd love to hear how you imagined each image and brought it to life.
Thank you Loretta; Perrie and I have discussed the possibility of showing some of the techniques via video here on NT. Hopefully at some point that will happen.
Its actually what's called a "fractal" that I distorted by partially swirling it. The tree and road into the woods was taken in color and then desaturated, layered over the fractal and made translucent.
