Did Someone Mention "Optical Illusions"?
In my article One More Moon Shot Digital Photography and Variations on Various Themes , Sixpick posted an image he identified as an "optical illusion".
By definition
an experience of seeming to see something that does not exist or that is other than it appears.
Traditionally, optical illusions create visual phenomena that fool the eye based on the placement of lines and shapes. In the history of Art, a style known as trompe l'oeil (a trick of the eye) was usually in the form of a still life painting a -- visual illusion used to trick the eye into perceiving a painted detail as a three-dimensional object. After the 19th Century, paintings that appeared to be photographs were called (duh!) "Photo Realism."
In 2008, I tore my right quadriceps tendon and that knocked out me out-of-commission for several months immobilizer on my leg, then a walker, then physical therapy/rehab so, no out in the woods with a camera and tripod.
During that time, I worked all-digital-all-the-time using earlier photographs and image-editing techniques to come up with what I'd generally call "fantasy" and other "illusory" type pictures.
So, Sixpick, thanks for reminding me I'd almost forgotten these.

Thanks Sixpick; I went to my data base and found some almost forgotten images; stay tuned -- more as I find them.
Geezzz A Mac - I'm always seeing stuff that ain't there - so my wife says - am I illuding optically?
A Mac
Beautiful
I see a ship from the past navigating the solar winds of space
I have some others watching the Eagles (football) post game show after that.
I like that interpretation, RIO.
You are always welcome A Mac. You always give us so much in beautiful photos.
Is this a children's book illustration? It appears to be European.
Got me. I just looked up optical illusions and it is one I found. Neat thought.
Fascinating!
Check this link out!

Oh man, those are amazing Six...
What do you see? Indian with headdress or an Inuit entering a igloo?
Beyond belief!
This is one you'll like A Mac. Looks like two moons.
How utterly beautiful! A dream, a wisp of a thought.... I love this!
Thanks so much for posting this!
WOW. Neat, BF. I love it!
Either two moons, or the horns of the devil peeking up at the church... And no, that is NOT a statement against Christianity, and NO, I don't want to get into it. If we're talking Rorschach blobs, I always think they look like squished insects.
Neat!!! Gives new meaning to the term "six feet under"!
This one strikes close to home for me-- we were once remodeling our older home, and one could sit in the bathroom on the 2nd floor, and look all the way down into the basement... I felt like I was living in a bombed out house in London, WWII...
Great picture!
Both! But I was thinking an Easter Island guy...
Well first I saw the Indian Kavika easily and then after looking I saw the Inuit entering the igloo. Neat though. And I did think Easter Island like Dowser said as well.
You're welcome J4T. Just looking at that scares me though.
Yea, I think they said that was a room in a smoker's lounge and I see they are smoking. The people up above just look too real to me.
Very cool, Six!
Now what would it be like to sail away in that boat??
Six, Dowser, you can see all three. It's kind of cool.
I'm sure it would be exhilarating!!!!!!!!!
Yep........ Soon it will be Christmas!
The good thing about getting older is I can put these optical illusions up as many times as I want to and they're still new to me. Is that the reason I keep watching Andy Griffith episodes?
A Mac...... Most of us have already seen these pictures I've put up and they are still new and interesting, but we haven't seen the ones you are talking about, so let's see some of them today, please. LOL
I thought it was just me.
The reason I don't wear a watch is because, when one looks at a watch five times and still doesn't know what time it is
What's the point?
OK. New article in a little while; thanks for asking.
My thoughts exactly, Mac! I haven't worn one in 21 years.
Yes, I am sure it would be, Six!
I am looking at my screen, Justice, and it tells me it s 20:33.
Let's call is a mystery, Justice. At least that would make us run in circles. If you complain to Perrie, it might make us run in one direction!
Ok, that one makes me sick to my stomach...
This guy could really cause some accidents!
the sidewalk is flat...
