Beautiful Creature with Interesting (Common) Names
Biologists use a naming system for the classification of plants, animals and other organisms which consists of at least two parts -- Genus and Species. These names are Latin or "latinized" and used for consistency/accuracy/scientific purposes across the world -- regardless of the native language of any given biologist.
Because an organism's "common name" can vary, even within a small geographic area, the biological names are crucial when scientists communicate.
Here's a prime example; this beauty is known commonly as either "The Soldier" or "Tropical Queen Butterfly."
Danaus eresimus is its biological name.
