Love Food and Wine? Join Me Tonight!
I used to entertain a good deal a few years ago. Summer slips by swiftly, and while I couldn't capture and keep it for as long as I wished, I made the most of balmy weekend nights by inviting close friends for intimate gatherings in my backyard. Culinary experiments would find their way to my table, and in most cases, generated positive reviews. Of course, one could always order some pizzas and uncork a couple of bottles of wine, pop open some beer and simply relax and get some conversation going, if the experiment failed, but fortunately, that never happened. But one needs a backup plan, doesn't one?
While few and far between, I still host some of these summer soirees under my maple tree, and thought I might share them with my virtual community. I invite you to an evening with me, anytime!

I wasn't the least bit hungry until I stopped by, now I am famished.
Thanks alot Neetu
Kidding aside, I wish I were there.
I wish you were too, luther! Thank you for stopping by. My table always has an extra place, you know!
I must say, you do set a fine table.
Thank you, luther. You may help yourself to an extra glass of that sangria for paying me that compliment!
I see mine......it looks good! Now you have to prepare for all the rest.
I shall!
Looks very appetizing and pleasant.
Use to get the shrimp right off the boat years ago.
And eat it raw?
You are killing me with that Plate O Shrimps. I could use a plate of shrimp and grits about now.
Me too. Until enterprising folks began bringing them up in coolers and sold them on the highway.
We'd spread old newspapers over the kitchen floor, boil em up and all sit on the floor to scarf brew and pig out on the shrimp.
Too far from the coast now. Sadly.
I am sorry, Tex - did I remind you of good things that make you sad? Now, I promise I had no intention of causing pain!
Not only do I make you sad, now I am killing you! Oh dear, what is a woman to do who just wants to invite folks to her table????
At least, I am helping you build up anappetite!!
No worries. It is a bittersweet thang.
I have great conviction that shrimp, oysters, po boys, and boudin will be on my menu prior to exiting this ball of dirt.
I'd definitely bring a jug of sweet tea, or fine bourbon if that is more suitable, and a skillet of cornbread with me if I could make the invite.
Thanks for the envite Neetu and looks wonderful!
Something about the backyard supper party that just can't be beat.
:~)
Is that a Greare or an exotic cheddar ?
That is........................simply Vermont Cheddar, 84! It was a good one, though .Sharp, too!
Earlier I meant to say, beautiful table set, but forgot my manners whilst lost, floating in a visceral dream of crustaceans.
Fine bourbon, please!!!! Cornbread sounds great, too.
Lol, Tex, that's the stuff dreams are made of! Well, thank you. Glad you like my table setting.
