This I suppose is technology related but.............

As most of you know by now my computer did a deep six and I have replaced it with a brand new one, courtesy of a pretty neat son in law. Grin.gif My old Dell has been replaced with a computer with the name of "Lenovo" which is supposedly produced by IBM. It also was preloaded with windows 8 which is a disaster all by itself. All of the neat things that made using windows easy for me to use have been eliminated and I am having a devil of a time learning the ropes.
Has anyone had any experience with this Levono computer? Are there any comments about Windows 8 even though it seems to be too late for me--avoid that sucker if you can! Tongue.gif Tongue.gif

Lenovo has a pretty good computer. I'm typing this on one right now. Windows 8, however, is a piece of crap. It may cost you a bit, but I think you can have a computer guy reload it with the Windows 7 operating system (check at the local Best Buy or Radio Shack). Windows 7 is an excellent system, actually better than XP. You could also get a download from the Microsoft store and do it yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I love my xp pro. I have heard nothing good about windows 8, nothing. Yeah, tsula, get windows 7 put on there. Maybe the guys who sold you the computer can do it for you.

What I've heard is that Windows 8 is a "shell" over Windows 7... Not that I understand this, but supposedly, you can turn off Windows 8 and Windows 7 is already there. Do I know how to do this? I'm sorry, I wish I did!

Thanks folks for the good news about Levono. I had never even heard of them when the guy told me not to buy the HP because the AMD drive was no good. This one was nearly a hundred bucks cheaper so I figured that he was on the level. I'm gradually getting better and found a way to get my favorites into the command line anyway. Guess who was first! I heard that Windows 10 was on the starting line and MS is catching holy Ned from all the people suckered into the 8 version. I don't think that my Bride will allow me to go for another system so I'll wait for 10. Again my thanks to y9ou all. It is not a happy time around here when I just sit. Now I'm in the process of recreating all of my business programs and sob choke I lost 11 years of data because I don't dare try to doa restore on my stand alone in case there was a bug involved. I have a ton of old pictures over there too. You folks are the best!!

Didn't know about that. Maybe one of the computer guys around here will know something about how it can be done.
