Bird Photo of Yesterday Morning

This boy is a regular at my feeder. As the snow was coming down, he was coming by. Even with a beak-full, he's distinguished-looking.

I love the yellow between beak and eyes.

Well, Mac, as you are aware, it was you, js and others that got me interested in trying to take photos. Didn't spend money, used bank points to get a point and shoot. I'm a notoriously bad photo taker. And as you also know, I do a lot of sunrises and sunsets. Every day, as a matter of fact. I've gotten up for sunrises for years, so nothing is really out of the ordinary. But I carry two point and shoots with me everywhere.

Well, I've decided once again to take your lead. I decided birds, just like you. So I'm in the middle of Sundance Square, downtown Fort Worth, returning from a late lunch and pulling into the six-story parking garage so I can go back to work. No birdbath or feeders like in my backyard. So what better subject than a pigeon. Some people call them flying rats, but I think that's mean. Pigeons are people too, you know.

So, in my best Mac impression, I took a couple of snaps of the little cuties. Not quite Mac material yet, but one day ... ! Pigeons in their natural habitat ... the concrete jungle. I didn't crop them, I kinda liked seeing the city ... made me feel sorry they're stuck in the city. Then I realized they can go wherever they choose. The pic with the single pigeon; that's our sister building in the background. Both highrises are made of reflective glass.

Your pictures should be hung in the offices of the Audubon Society.

Good for you!

You will discover that the more of this subject you take, the more you will learn to anticipate things like "bird-body-language" and the next move your instincts will guide you.

Depicting the pigeons in their "natural" un-natural habitat makes your images "documentaries," the context is both interesting and valid regarding habitat.

Great start! Keep going.

The White-throated Sparrow whistle my favorite song and call... .

Another great bird picture Mac and thank you! They only hang around here, oh probably about a month a year. And agree with Cobaltblue, they are pretty dang cute birds too.

Those are great AMac......I love bird since I was a kid so I get a kick out of them.

I like the pigeons....My husband took a photo of a pigeon on the nest with the baby's heads sticking out.

Yes! Pigeons do have babies!

I always wonder where birds go to die. I seldom see a dead bird, yet there are millions of birds. You think you would see a dead one occasionally.
