Picture #1 is Pfaltzgrafenstein on the Rhine. We had a poster of it, when I was a kid.

10571_discussions.jpg From the accompanying article:

Pfalzgrafenstein
in the Rhine river near Kaub. King Ludwig of Bavaria built the Pfalz in1327 as border protecion. 1338 a 12 meter high wall was built around it with two storeys of gallery walks. Although the castle was modernised in 1607 and 1755. The majoritiy is still from the 14th century. Inside the castle one can view ceramic and tinn items from the 17th to 19th centuries.
Openting times: 1st April to 30th September 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm
1st October to 31st March 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm
closed: December and first work day in the week
The last ferry crossing from Kaub is one hour before closing time.

Wish I could help with the rest...

These are great! Smile.gif

Well, trying to keep this alive, so it doesn't fall off the bottom of the page... Where is everybody?

Much love to you! Smile.gif

Great ID on the Castle Kaub. I'll only post those images I've identified (with some exceptions). The research is tedious to fascinating ... let's hope others come around to either nail the ID's or just enjoy the oldies ...

Thank you.

Tedious, I bet! Fascinating, too, but I wouldn't know where to begin on most of these...

Much love, dear A. Mac!

Hi Mac,

I puzzled over these, and came to the conclusion I don't have anything but guesses. I am way too new to church history, and church architecture to make even an educated guess. Mac, I didn't start reading about church history until 2011.I have learned a lot about the events but not any of the fine points.

I learned a little about Israel, but not enough to be ale to identify locations like you posted.

Ciao!

No clue, though to my alzheimered eye, number 3 looks like the St. Lawrence with the Chateau de Frontenac in the background.

Hey Mac,

When I saw the answers, I realized that although I had been to Paris and saw the Left and Right Banks of the Seine, I was 14 when I saw Paris as a tourist. Uuumm...memory, I can't remember what happened an hour ago now!

The Rhein, I went by on a river boat in 1984, but one castle in Germany looks the same as the other. On that trip we went to all of Ludwig's Schlosses and many others.

Lucerne I visited a few times in the 60's and one quickly in 88. But, I am the world's least observant creature. So, I'll leave it at that! Smile.gif
