Images I Made Before We Met

Been taking and making pictures since long before I knew any of you, or, you ... me. Some of those images were taken with older cameras, scanned with older scanners and edited in older image-editing software like Photoshop 3.0.

Yikes! A FujiFinePix 3.2 Pixel digital camera, scanned Kodachromes, Ektachromes, Fuji Velvias, a Canon AE 1, a Nikon N6006 ... and, 8000 35mm slideslater, here we are. The slides are likely gone forever (unless I head out to Nebraska and extract them from a half million others). The owner of the agency representing them passed away and his widow is just too overwhelmed to separate them.

Thirty years of pictures ... photo journalism, stock photography, photos for publishers ... and today I looked at some of my database from 2006 through 2008 (including some much older, scanned slides).

Here's some of them.

These are wonderful Mac and totally different from what you take now. I love all the color in them. It's how I paint. I'm glad you got back these beauties!

Does this mean you are putting together a book while you're waylaid? Great shots; it's frickin cold here today (11 degrees F last night) and the charter boat makes me feel warm. Thanks Mac!

Your point should inspire a good photog like Mac to create a calendar like that . The photos would all be 6 months out of season . Winter and summer would be photographically interchanged as would fall & spring . Whadya think Mac ? Would it sell ?

Actually, Larry, I am putting together an e-book while I'm limited as to places I'd ordinarily be ... woods, lakes, streams ... the book is about black & white imagery.

Rich,

I did a 2012 calendar ... each month with a related scene; sales of calendars are usually unproductive unless coming from an organization with a target audience because so many organizations/businesses distribute FREE calendars to solicit donations or to advertise.

I may have a 2012 calendar leftover ... once I'm back on the move, if you'd like, I'll search around and, if I find any, I'll mail you one ... it won't be much good as a calendar but you might like the pictures.

I have a few thousand of these "oldies" ... I'll post others, but I wish I had my slides from 20 years ago.

That sounds really awesome Mac and please do let us know when it's available. Sometimes allowing the routine of your talent go a different direction can be quite helpful. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and I can't tell you what a difference a break in the routine makes. There have been times I haven't touched the guitar in days or weeks, and my mind practices nonetheless; and invigorates creativity.Fresh focus is very necessary and a break will do that.
