Fall Emerges in Northeastern Pennsylvania
Although the "official" Fall in Pennsylvania website says that "peak colors" in my Pocono Mountain hangouts will come between October 13 and October 28 ...

... I have between 50-100 images I took in the last week that say ... "don't wait another two weeks to get some Autumn in the Poconos 2012 photos ... start now!"
Here's a pair from the past week ... and if you like this one, there will be more.
Autumn imagery isn't just about color ... it's about texture as well.

Perfect picture! Love thecomposition! Truly capture the fall in the North East!
Beautiful picture! I'd be afraid if you waited two more weeks everything might just be brown.

My favorite time of year!
The reds and yellows and oranges get most of the attention...but; the crunchy brown ferns are gorgeous and look like ones we have here in Minnesota.
:~)
Thanks to all for the kind words; I'm just getting to the shots from this past week -- getting them ready for publishers and adjusting to their specs. It appears that this may be one of the best autumns for pix in a few years. There are already a lot of colors and, still many leaves on the trees ... I've got at least 75-100 decent images so far and hoping to double or triple that between now and the end of October.
The colors in the Poconos are going to be my focus (literally) until peak ... then I'll concentrate on colors down here in Philly ... maybe until early November.
Come see the Sugar Maple ... it's sweeeeeeeeeet to look at.
Was your area affected much by drought this summer A.M.?
We had both drought and excessive rain ... the manifestation of global climate change being extremes. The rains that came in the end of the summer apparently resulted in the great colors we're already seeing.
In going through my shots from the week, I cannot remember a better early fall ... I can't wait to see what next week is like.
We were the opposite,,,plenty of rain early on (thankfully, it was enough for the crops) with nearly no rain the last couple of months. Makes for sorta wishy-washy fall colors.
Around here, northeast Florida, we had a really hot and HUMID summer. The lake in our back yard was literally showing bottom. We have gotten enough rain in the last month to at least get the lake back to full. The best part of this summer for me has been the total lack of hurricanes. We are much too old to try to evacuate any more so this has been a big relief. I DO miss the colors of home, Ct,though.
The Pines may get a little prickly with so much attention being given to the maple.
:~)
They'll get their turn in December.
