No really ... who is your daddy ?
It's about time for another glorious musical challenge ! The topic this time is "who's your daddy?" . OK , that is any song which includes reference to daddies , fathers , papas etc . In fact while were at it let's also includes mothers , and mamas too . Any parental unit will do .
To start things off I'm gonna throw out this little number which has the word mommas in it .
Thanks for your participation and don't forget a link ...

Thanks Gene . Here is a link :
The pathos of that event is something that would move anyone ...
and now for Momma...
You never disappoint Shel ...
So very dark ...
This might be the only video ever made about that subject ...
Safe bet I would say.
I'm surprised Jon LaJolie didn't do this one too !
WOW !
Dammit.......
I'm gonna just go ahead and declare myself winner once again:
D'Wayne hasn't won yet....
And now for something completely obscure...
Mas Macho !
Beautiful and moving ... thanks Fero .
That was actually cool ... musically speaking ...
Major industrial strength rap !
Sadly, yes. But I was only 13.
Life from the really wrong side of the tracks ...
Good old fashioned country music ... from Shel . I can't believe it !
Early classic Madonna . Yum !
Yup . That was different ...
I seem to recall it was you who originally introduced me to this incredible song ... Thanks .
I didn't know the lyrics were written by Shel Silverstein ...
There's actually another version of that one.
Of course assuming shockwave doesn't crash and try to put up the King Diamond vid again....
Attempt number five.
Papa Was a Rolling Stone/Killer
She was one of a kind both as a performer and a writer ...
Awesome vid Shel . Thnx .
Whatever happened to Garfunkel anyway ?
He's still around... doing soundtracks for movies and going on tour.
Never knew that Shel!
So those rumors about his going into the plumbing supply business are not true ?
I know. I could have used Barbara's version of the song, but I went to theoriginal.
I aim to please!
How could you even suggest anything but the original ??
Do you notice that except for the title there is no mention of "father" in this song ?
He might. You never know what he'll do next.
Very deep song. Kind of makes me sad listening to it.
Oh...I thought that was a Danny Aiello video...
Well ... he was sexy too !
Watch it Rich, Your dad might have disown you with comments like that.
Well actually Lora didn't have the hit with it, but Barbara did. That was why I thought of her. But I like Lora's better, so I went with it.
I didn't know he wrote lyrics! I know him as a children's novelist, LOL!
You and me both, Gene!
Yeah. It's supposed to be like a dialog between a father and son, so I guess the son didn't want to say dad.
Enough chat. MUSIC!
No Way Peter... I had that one already!
I actually had a copy of Laura's version but not Barbara's .I think we can safely assume that Barbara was never "raised on the good book Jesus".
Cat Stevens was a tortured dude ...
How do you embed the videos?
OK, I just am not smart enough to figure it out.
Copy the embed html and click on Media and paste it there.
CK ,
Embedding the video is just a fancier way to accomplish it but unnecessary . Just post a link like I did in my article . Why do all that tech work ?
Looks cool!
Well ... there is that !
OK here goes again. A very emotional song.
Sawyer Brown. They were one of my favorites.
That was everything a good piece of music should be ... a cyclical story with progression , an excellent performance and agreat voice ... Thanks for introducing me to Sawyer Brown . Much appreciated ...
Ah yes, Sawyer Brown...winner of Ed McMahons Star Search years back.
OK P,
If you're gonna post some hard rockin' blues I can top that . No I'm not talkin' through my hat ...
Eat my dust !
Dang Rich, You got a good one there! Totally slipped my mind.
They had some very good songs. I love this one, and another of my favorites is "This Night Won't Last Forever".
They were very big for a three or four years, and then just seemed to disappear.
I saw an interview with one of the members of the group, and he said they just got tired of the grind. They all live near each other in Tennessee or Kentucky or someplace in the South, and they play around there now, but just don't want to do it "Big Time" anymore.
Make your money.... Enjoy your life. Not a bad philosophy.
Really nice Captain Kid. Never heard it before. Glad you shared it with us!
Indeed. One of the first guitar licks I learned. Funk chord and a sweeping arpeggio. Sadly, Hillel Slovak, the guitarist, died from a heroine overdose.
I dunno, Danny didnt "Do The Right Thing". He was a labor boss pre acting career though, so who could blame him.
I didnt see that until later. Still, it's so good you gotta play it twice.
Gads ! Great song P . Really brings back memories ...

I see what U mean about #2 ...
That Dan Fogelberg was very moving ... Thanks much Neale .
