"Time Is But the Stream I Go a Fishin' In" (Henry David Thoreau)
My granddaughter's health situation is still not resolved ... there remain as many questions as answers. In the presence of family members, I maintain the air of "normalcy," and if you know me at all, "normal" is not my strong suit.
So ... when by myself, I fill my time ... hanging out in the woods or near water, almost always with a camera or two. This is a slideshow of one of my diversions ... a spiritual/zen way to fill the hours with something other that unwanted, intrusive thoughts.

Time is but a stream ...
Life is but a dream....
Really nice photo essay. It brings me back to my childhood and fishing with my Uncle Herman.
I really miss him.
I had an Uncle (Fred) ... same kind of memories. He left Philadelphia and for years, the family did not know his whereabouts. But I found him in Sparks, Nevada in the late 1990s and we reunited. I visited him there and we used to wind up at this quarry that filled with water and that was stocked out the wazoo with trout.
My uncle was on the Carrier Bunker Hill in WWII when it was hit by Kamikaze planes; he never recovered emotionally and in his later years, was treated for PTSD at the VA Hospital in Reno.
He died in 2005 and I had his funeral and burial here in Philly.
Good one Mike ... water is a metaphor for much of life.
And one more ...
A Philly Group to which I have a career connection; tell ya' about it one time when we're at the fishin' hole. If there's still a link to the newspaper article I'll send it to you.
Talk about fishin', I can't help but remember my grand dad. He was a farmer north of Clovis, NM and he used to love to fish, anywhere. Here is a picture of him, I'm on the left and my brother is on the right. 1961.
It wasn't about the catching, it was about the doing, and being with the people he loved. Our thoughts are with you Mac. Great pictures Mac. Just love 'em.
I have a story about fishing with my grandson ... I will find it and post it here on NT.
Robert,
If you've never read the book, "Fly Fishing Through the Midlife Crisis" by Howell Raines, I think you'd find it enlightening in many respects.
