Recent images ... all of which began as color originals ... but seem to say more in black and white.
1) A conservation trust just outside of Philadelphia.
I really like the second photo. I think of an unharvested field. The people have left for unspecified reasons, the land waits for their return, but they aren't coming back. Now it is only the trees that watch over the fields.
The photos are from a location just across Philadelphia's boundary near my house.
There's a stream along its east boundary (trout, bass, sunfish) that runs through a forest ... and endless acres of meadow ... Indian Grass ...
The wooded area and stream extend south into Philly and runs all through the city; I'm in there at least 100 days a year! My back yard borders the forest.
This part of the forest and stream run through the City of Philadelphia ... minutes from my house! Click on the image ... full size makes you want to be there.
It looks absolutely wonderful. We used to live 20 miles north of Santa Fe, NM. I so miss the country. I've never been to Pennsylvania, or the NW. Would like to get there some time. I absolutely love living in the mountains.
My brother and I grew up wanting to be farmers, I think that is why the second image reminded me of a field. I think that B/W sometimes evokes more memories than color, simply because you have to use your imagination to kind of fill in things that color would otherwise fill in for you.
I have to tell you, my wife has been following you for at least a year. She never comments, but she loves your work.
I have a second hangout in Pennsylvania, that being the Pocono Mountains about 90 miles north of Philly. I'll post some photos of that area sometime soon.

More later.
There's map for the area ... it marks the tree part and the forest part.
Easy.
57 states?
When did we lose three states?
Well, I'd hug his elephant if his conservative friends would kiss my ...
Donkey.
Ok, I'm not anywhere near as good as A. Mac, but I am going to share one of mine. From Duran Canyon, Sangre de Cristo range:
Steve,
These are quite good! Composition, exposure, detail ... really nice.
I'll let Mike know.
Sorry about referring to you as "Mike."
This was about 50 miles north of where we used to live. We gotta get back there, this low desert is killing us. My wife and I loved camping up there.
Not Mike... Steve!
Silly goose!
Lovely photos in shades of gray Mac! Number 1 is very haunting.
Steve,
Really nice shots. The first one is very interesting!
Thanks Perrie. The first one was part of an old fallen tree by the water.

I am flattered, Steve.

That would be lovely.
I think I've been called worse.
During the Second Civil War, silly!
Just don't call you late to dinner.
Yeah ... right!
WTF was I thinking?
