DASH Diet Vs. Weight Watchers: Which Weight Loss Plan is Right For You?

213404-wl.jpg Let's face it, not all diets work. Nor do all diets work for the same people. A weight loss plan that works for a friend or family member does not necessarily guarantee the same positive results for you.

Just in time for all those who made New Year's resolutions to shed unwanted pounds, the U.S. News & World Report that released its annual list of the top diets of 2012. The DASH diet topped the chart at the number one spot, while the celebrity touted Weight Watchers plan nabbed the number five spot.

But is the DASH diet, which some call just the latest fad, right for you? Or are you more suited for a well-known plan like Weight Watchers?

Here's a breakdown of both diet plans with pros and cons, so you can choose for yourself. ( Cont'd )

A good comparison between what are probably the two best diet plans available.

I think her diet is too severe-- she ought to ease up a bit.

Lack of calories is making her voice squeaky!

I just saw this exact same question on Amazon a couple days ago. You posting there Krish?

I prefer the Mediterranean Diet myself.

Hi there,
Both diets have their merits but I personally feel that they still fall short because there is an implicit start and end time for both diets. What happens after the diets are done? I'll bet that 80-90% of people would simply revert back to their old lifestyles with bad eating habits and poor exercise habits.

I honestly believe that both diets should evolve into something of a lifestyle recommendation and to-do plan. That's just my opinion. I've successfully lost about 30lbs from a more comprehensive approach that takes into consideration, craving, motivation, re-adjusting the mind etc. If you're interested please head over to my site Rock-Abs.net to see what I did.

Cheers.

I have an acct on Amazon but I only use it occasionally to buy books (and sometimes to research titles). Also I use my "Wish List' there to keep track of books I may be interested in. But iIve never posted anything there.

I think the reason that question is popular is because, apparently, this DASH diet is "the latest hot thing". It seems its gotten some good reccs from some respectible sources. And Weight Watchers has been around a long time, and many people recc it highly. So its only natural that people are comparing the two.

Actually there's a reason I posted this-- and most of the other articles I post. I am trying an "experiment". I am looking at sites that post lists of what's currently hot, what's "viral" on the ''net-- and mainly posting those articles here. (Occasionally I do post something that I am personally really interested in, even though i know its not popular-- but mainly I post things that are suposedly "viral on the 'net).

I don't follow any formal diet as such-- but the way I eat is probably closer to the Mediterranean Diet than any other style of eating. I started eating that way because IMO its probably the healthiest way to eat, I didn't start so much for fat loss.

Good point.

Peoplpe often complainabout how much trouble thery have losing weight. But I've noticed that that's usually not the real problem-- once they make up their mind to do it, they generally lose the weight.

But the hard part is not losing the weight-- the hard part is keeping it off!
