Harper Announces U.S.–Canada Peace Plan Based On Pre-1776 Borders

OTTAWA, ONAt a press conference today in Ottawa, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced a sweeping new peace plan for Canada and the United States. The plan, which is based on the pre-1776 borders, is part and parcel of his effort to break the stalemate between the two countries.

Clearly in recent years, the peace process has faltered, Harper stated. But by agreeing to return to the Colonial borders between Canada and the U.S., I hope to set us on a path to lasting peace.

In a post-conference statement, Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe demanded a return to pre-1763 borders, which would thereby put France in control of most of North America. He also stated, however, that the Bloc doesnt want Detroit either.
