A storm-chasing photographer captured the strange sky show in Arkansas Monday night. People in Kentucky and Georgia reported their sightings to local television stations. A special automated NASA camera that takes a picture of the sky every minute in Huntsville, Ala., captured 20 minutes of the vibrant red and green aurora borealis.
I think this has something to do with the weakening of the earth's magnetic field .
But I sure there will be those who blame it on global warming ....
We will soon be seeing northern lights more often up in northern Minnesota soon; it seems they areprevalent or maybe easier to see, in the winter. Sometimes they are spectacular!
Aaaahhh yes.... a fattie on a frozen night watching northern lights...one of life'sgrandest pleasures!
We have lived in Grand Forks andthe vicinityfor25 years and have many friends from the base. You would be amazed how muchhas changed there Randy. Theydon't have the refueling wing there anymore, instead they now hostdrones and work closely with UNDaerospace training pilots.
I have never seen them before, and it is on my bucket list. But what I don't get, is why we didn't see them in NY if they went so far down south.
Good question. Perhaps they didn't in the city but what about the rural areas?
Yeah they had the B-2 bombers there for a couple of years but went with the refueling wing. Emerado is nothing but a place to buy beer, gas & pizza and nowadays has maybe a hundred inhabitants. Most basers go to Grand-forks if they're going to "rip-it-up" so to speak and I highly doubt any could get away with a doobie anymore though.
Oh and that Sherriff is gone and the new guy has a different attitude...he calls the base MPs and lets them handle their own usually.
