It's better to be over 50, than it is to be over par
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Tiger Woods might have a new rival -- and it has nothing to do with Jordan Spieth , Rory McIlroy or any other professional golfer.
On Tuesday, in advance of this week's Open, Woods, 39, was asked if he had started to consider retirement.
"Retirement?" he responded. "I don't have any AARP card yet, so I'm a ways from that."
It was an innocuous comment -- and also true. Woods will turn 40 on Dec. 30, meaning he is still more than a decade away from qualifying to join AARP.
That didn't stop the AARP from firing back at him via Twitter.
Following an opening-round 4-over 76 during which Woods struggled with his game once again, the organization sent the following tweet:
Nice tweet! And true! Though being over 50 is not really a blast either, IMHO.
I know I sure got a kick out of it!
:~)
Has it rough spots, but the alternative isn't very appealing to me just yet
I turned 59 today, so the way I figure it is I have one more year left before I am officially "elderly". Of course I can't complain about getting older to my wife. She's 70.
Happy Birthday Randy you ol' rascal you!
Congrats!
Most definitely un-AARP-like, but funny!
Birthday wishes Randy! You and your wife are the opposite of my hubby and I...I'll be hitting 59 this year and by best guy is knocking on the 70 door
Just keep moving is our mantra...just keep moving.
Thanks Larry!
I...I'll be hitting 59 this year
I...I love the way you wrote that, Lynne.
Just keep moving is our mantra...just keep moving.
My mantra on a birthday is...more fudge!
Happy Birthday Randy...
Not usually what AARP would tweet, but it was funny.
Thanks! Getting creaky these days though.
Thanks! No its not usual AARP, but as a long time members (I've been a member for 20 years since I started as a spouse when my wife turned 50), I hardly agree with them sending it!
