13 reasons to oppose Obama’s Syrian refugee plan (and being scared of widows and orphans isn’t one of them)

I awoke today to headlines about President Obama demagoguing opponents of his plan to bring over 10,000 refugees from Syria into the United States.  As usual, Obama resorted to straw-man arguments, accusing people with reservations about his plan of “being scared of widows and orphans.”   Well, there are plenty of reasons to oppose Obama’s refugee plan, and being afraid of widows and orphans are not among them.

  1. It’s not about fearing or hating refugees. It’s about who finding might be hiding in their midst. ISIS has already exploited the Syrian refugee crisis to enter western countries, and the Paris terror attacks show how costly it can be when we fail to identify threats among the migrants.   There has already be a large, documented precedent of people posing as Syrian refugees in order to cross into Western countries.
  2. The FBI, NSA, and Homeland Security have all admitted that we have no good means to track and verify paperwork to vet Syrian refugees.  There have already been multiple confirmed cases  of fake or stolen passports being used by ISIS members and terror suspects .
  3. There have been multiple occurrences of jihadist violence or attempted terror attacks perpetrated by refugees in the past .  In the case of the Tsarnaev brothers, we had specific, credible intelligence on their links to jihadism and still allowed them to slip through the cracks .
  4. So far, the government’s biggest “solution” to terrorism has been to blanket surveil the entire US population .  The NSA continues to scoop up the private conversations of law-abiding US citizens but have failed to stop major terror attacks, even when the perpetrators have openly expressed sympathies for Islamic jihad on social media .
  5. The TSA has a 95% failure rate at detecting weapons .  Their mechanisms for detecting threats to flights include randomly groping children and the elderly, rather than using common-sense profiling of likely terror suspects.
  6. When Islamic terror attacks have happened on Obama’s watch, the White House continually refuses to acknowledge it for what it is.   They call it “workplace violence” or blame terror attacks on Youtube videos .  The dishonesty of the Obama administration should give anyone great pause before entrusting them with the intake of Syrian refugees.
  7. The Obama administration is already refusing to tell state governors where they have placed Syrian refugees .   If the United States is to take in refugees from Syria and other countries torn by ISIS’s violence, it must be done in an open and transparent manner.  Thus far, the Obama administration hid the process behind a wall of secrecy and arrogance.
  8. Obama refuses to acknowledge that Islamic jihad is the motivation for ISIS and al Qaeda terror attacks. If he cannot even acknowledge the root cause of extremist violence, how can we reasonably expect his administration to accurately vet the Syrian migrants?
  9. Obama’s “strategy” (if you can even call it that) to halt ISIS has proven ineffective.   Even after the Paris terror attacks, he insists that ISIS is “contained.” He saves his most cutting criticism, not for the terrorists, but for political opponents or members of the media who question his lack of coherent strategy.  Given that Obama’s strategy to combat Islamic jihadism has been so poor and ineffective, how can we trust that his strategy to vet tens of thousands of Syrian migrants will be effective?
  10. The Obama administration has prioritized the refugee status of Muslims over other religions coming out of Syria and Iraq .  This makes little sense considering that the Christian refugees are doubly vulnerable as they are welcome neither in the home country nor in the refugee camps.  Christian refugees (among a small handful of other religious minorities) face the greatest risk in the Syrian crisis, yet the Obama has admitted Muslims into the refugee program at a rate of 97–3.
  11. The Obama administration has thus far refused to acknowledge the genocide of Christians at the hands of ISIS .  This is a clear outrage and calls into question the Obama administration’s motives in taking in refugees from Syria. To be clear, the State Department still has the opportunity to do the right thing here, but they have failed, at this juncture, to recognize those who have faced some of the most brutal violence at the hands of ISIS.
  12. The Obama administration’s plan makes no financial sense. It would be far more cost effective to create a safe zone and house refugees in the Middle East than to transport them over to the United States.   We could resettle 12 refugees in the Middle East for the cost of every 1 we would be able to house in the United States.   Why would we choose what is possibly the least economical means of helping refugees?
  13. The Obama administration will gladly enroll tens of thousands of Syrian refugees into the US welfare state.   Senator Jeff Sessions estimates that the lifetime cost of taking in 10,000 refugees from Syria would be $55 Billion.  Every refugee would be eligible for the full gamut of  welfare benefits the United States has to offer, and the Obama administration has made a bad habit of encouraging immigrants to enroll themselves in government welfare programs .  We should be encouraging assimilation and self-sufficiency, not welfare dependency.

Fears ISIS gang posing as refugees after police seize hand-drawn MAP of route to Germany

EIGHT people have been arrested at Istanbul's main airport amid fears they are Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists posing as refugees after they were found clutching a hand-drawn map plotting the route to Germany.

Police sources said one of the suspects had a hand-drawn picture of a route from Turkey to Germany, via Greece, Serbia and Hungary.

It features exact details of how they should pick up smuggler boats and join refugees arriving on the Greek island of Kos before using trains and buses to travel across Europe before arriving in Germany where the map is rounded off with a little smiling stick man holding a flag.

Police fear the group are Islamic State militants planning to make their way to Germany posing as refugees.

The Anadolu Agency said the group arrived in Istanbul from Casablanca, Morocco, and were interviewed by criminal profiling teams at Ataturk Airport.

Anadolu said the eight claimed to be tourists visiting Istanbul but a hotel refuted claims they had reservations there.

Europe remains on high alert following the terror attacks in Paris which have left 129 dead and hundreds injured.

The arrest of the eight-strong group also sparks fears that the men may be part of a terror cell plotting an attack on Germany after ISIS posted a new video online threatening more Paris-style massacres.

The arrests come after an ISIS terrorist bragged about how easy it was to smuggle thousands of covert jihadists into Europe under the guise of being a desperate refugee.

The Syrian operative claimed more than 4,000 covert ISIS gunmen had made it into western nations, hidden among innocent refugees.

He said members of the blood-thirsty group were following the well-trodden route taken by refugees and migrants fleeing Syria, travelling across the border of Turkey then on to boats across to Greece and through Europe.

The man claimed there are now more than 4,000 covert ISIS gunmen "ready" to strike across the European Union.

He said it was the beginning of a larger plot to carry out revenge attacks in the West in retaliation for the US-led coalition airstrikes.

He said extremists are taking advantage of developed nations' generosity towards refugees to infiltrate Europe, he said.

More than 1.5million refugees have fled into Turkey alone – desperate to escape the bloodshed in Syria.

From Turkish port cities like Izmir and Mersin, thousands of refugees venture across the Mediterranean aiming for Italy, he said.

Then the majority make for more welcoming nations like Sweden and Germany, turning themselves over to authorities and appealing for asylum.

He said: "They are going like refugees.

"It’s our dream that there should be a caliphate not only in Syria but in all the world."

Two Turkish refugee-smugglers backed up the claims made by the terrorist.

One admitted to helping more than ten trained ISIS rebels infiltrate Europe under the guise of asylum seekers.

Excellent information. I don't see how Obama and his Democrat cohorts think that ignoring these facts is a solution.

Cerenkov.... It's not about being a Christian or acting out of the goodness of our hearts.  It's about common sense.  It's not about hating Muslims or even Islam.  It's about using our heads and heeding the advice of those who we trust and making decisions based on their advice.  It's also about how effective those who make these decisions have been in the past.  And these people who may come to this country will have some good people, but there is a high probability some will not be so good.

It only makes common sense to make decisions after we've done all we can to assure ourselves they are the right decisions.  It shouldn't be Left or Right, it should be common sense.

I would like to see if there is a list of good reasons to agree with Obama's plan to infiltrate the USA with jihadists, rather than seeing comments that just disagree wtih the common sense reasons indicated in this article.

It cost a lot of money to ship our men and equipment overseas to fight them. Much cheaper to fight them at home It's part of Obamas plan to cut deficit spending in half.
