By now, we’ve pretty much all dismissed the idea of Jesus as a white guy, sometimes depicted with blue eyes. However, retired British forensic artist Richard Neave decided to give the world a more concrete image of what the religious figure probably looked like.
Neave came up with the image by studying the skulls of first century Jewish men found in Galilee in Northern Israel. According to Mic , He then got an idea for how Christ’s hair should look by studying drawings of men from from that point in history.
Neave typically produced such renderings for his past work as a forensic criminologist. The process for creating the image typically involves making a plaster cast of the skull and then recreating the facial features using the measurements he calculated in the research stage.
“Inevitably there are some areas where you have to speculate,” Neave told BBC News in 1998. “Particularly if parts of the skull are missing.”
Neave’s Jesus recreation was first depicted in Popular Mechanics back in January, but didn’t really gather much notoriety on the internet until this week. Perhaps the holiday season has something to do with that.

I guess the son of God could look like anything.
No-no-no-no-no...
Jesus was a tall blond. His picture was in every Bible when I was a kid.
I don't have any issue with say, Europeans making Jesus look European in religious portraits, but those pictures should stay in Europe and not be hanging on walls in Africa or South America.
I guess the first time, when National Geographic did this many years ago, it didn't "take".
I guess that nearly every culture has put their own face on the face of Jesus... I mean, it would be natural to do so. He was a man, who looked like us.
To me, it really doesn't matter what he looked like, other than He has to have kind eyes.
It's interesting, one of these two images looks a little effeminate and the other one doesn't.
That never occurred to me.
I guess I just took it as it was... I mean, non-critically.
I guess Jesus, being divine, is male and female at once. They say we all are, but maybe he showed it.
He looks like a Neanderthal with a haircut.
Yes!
I had read that Neanderthals could probably walk among us without being noticed. Your Neanderthal, with a haircut and a neatly trimmed beard, certainly could.
And suit and tie, of course.
Cool!
Here's what Jesus looked like : [This person definitely died for our sins !]
