We get to know certain people because we run into them, so much. Once they're gone, for whatever reason, we miss seeing them. I hope, too, he is well, happy, and catching fish!
I am disappointed in myself for never even asking him his name. We fished side-by-side at the spot in the photo … he with the spinning gear and me with the fly rod.
This is going to spur me onto asking some of these people their names and introducing myself. I see the same people everywhere I go, and smile at them, and ask them how their day is-- if I can do that, surely their name is important as well!
If he is gone from us, we can hope that he has led the way to a place where the fish bite on every cast, fight hard and, when released, are immediately ready for another fight.
Funny how you can miss someone you really do not know.
Brother, he caught you, as much as you caught him.
We are all fishers of men.
What else needs to be said?

The photo is quite nostalgic in a different sort of way.
Beautiful photo, and I hope the old fisherman is doing well and catching fish.

Makes me sad.

That makes my being s a "bad example" -- a positive motivation …
I'm glad something good came from it.
Mac - sometimes names aren't necessary. The photo makes me a little wistful for my grandfather. It’s a nice silhouette with a peaceful background. Nice
Darling PJ, it made me feel the same way! Grandpa! Where are you? Let's go fishing!
