Prolific Hollywood Writer/Director/Producer/Actor/Creator Garry Marshall Dies
Garry Marshall passed away yesterday at the age of 81 in Burbank, Calif.
He was a writer , producer , director and creator of the iconic 70's television shows Happy Days , Laverne and Shirley, The Odd Couple , and Mork and Mindy. He also directed numerous hit movies including Pretty Woman, Overboard, The Flamingo Kid, and Beaches.
Marshall also wrote for many hit shows of the sixties, including I Spy, Gomer Pyle, The Lucy Show, Love American Style, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and the Danny Thomas Show. He also has 83 acting credits, including The Odd Couple, A League Of Their Own, and The Simpsons.
His death doesn't seem to be drawing all that much notice, which I find hard to understand.
I think you could argue this guy was one of the most important people in Hollywood entertainment , in the creative aspects , in the 60's and 70's and 80's.
He was definitely a power and great writer in Hollywood.
RIP Garry.
I always liked this movie. At his best, Marshall's films had elements of Frank Capra in them.
Garry Marshall always seemed like such a nice guy-- not the type to yell and scream, but the type who nurtured the actors and actresses that were in his films. He was a comedic genius, and a good person. His family and friends will be in my prayers!
RIP, Mr. Marshall! We will miss you!
