White Sox All Star Pitcher Sent Home After He Cuts Up Team's "Throwback" Uniforms
1976 White Sox uniform , now used as a "throwback" promotion.
Chicago White Sox All-Star Chris Sale was sent home on a day he was supposed to be the starting pitcher for what the team called a "non-physical" incident, general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement before Saturday's game. It was later reported that Sale was unhappy about having to wear the team's throwback uniforms, and cut them up in protest.
Saturday's incident has only served to intensify trade rumors surrounding the 27-year-old, who's been one of the lone bright spots this season for an inconsistent White Sox team. Even as they've moved toward becoming sellers, the White Sox have been steadfastly refusing to trade their ace; one report earlier this week suggested the team said no to an offer described as a "king's ransom" from an unknown team.
Earlier Saturday, the Boston Red Sox were reported to have great interest in both Sale and Quintana.

A couple things about this - Chris Sale is one of the best pitchers in major league baseball, He was the starting pitcher for the American League in the recent all star game.
Sale took a pair of scissors and cut to pieces four or five of the throwback jerseys the White Sox were scheduled to wear Friday night.
Sale is said to be upset that the team cares more about selling jersey replicas and having fan promotions than they do about winning games and competing for a playoff spot.
Interestingly his position is that the jerseys are uncomfortable, I assume meaning, thwarting play!
He's gotta point too, though that sadly is what pro sports has turned into in many ways.
I was on a softball team in 1976. Our team shirts were a close facsimile of this White Sox uniform in the photo. I have to say that the majority of the guys were not to thrilled with them but the bar that sponsored the team liked them.
This particular uniform actually had a version where the White Sox players wore shorts
although I don't recall them wearing the shorts more than a couple times in regular season games.
The owner of the White Sox at that time was Bill Veeck, one of the greatest showmen in the history of baseball, or any sport for that matter.
When Veeck was a young man he worked for the Cubs, and it was his idea to put ivy on the outfield walls at Wrigley Field.
The White Sox still have Sale under contract next year at a relatively low price (appx 12 mil) , so the feeling is they will not trade him.
The thing about throwback uniforms that I don't like is that some of them just plain look fucking stupid! Especially for the teams that started after the big expansions in the early 1970's.
Ugly is right!
Crazy. Those jerseys were the best in sox history, at least the white home ones
I like the throw back uniforms.
Of course baseball is soooooo boring anything is an improvement.
More then Golf?
Golf is a sport!!!!!! I'm shocked.
It is to golfers! And people who watch it on TV! I mean Bowling is a sport too. A game is something you can't get injured doing. Like poker or checkers.
I'm a big fan of curling, Randy.
Ohhh, me too...loved the last winter games...
chicago tv news says the team has suspended Sale for 5 games
