I watched 2 of the pieces and plan on watching more. Some of the commentators had it right, when you heard him play you instantly knew it was him. For years he was probably one of the most under-rated drummer in the world, except in the drummers world. They knew and appreciated his genus. People sort of thought of him as just happening to be lucky enough to play drums with these huge talents in front of him, but there would not be the Beatles without him. His innovations in drumming at the start of the group through and during the height of their popularity were incredible. He was not just someone lucky enough to play behind musical geniuses, he was one himself. If the Beatles hadn't scooped him up, he would have been hugely famous playing drums for other musical geniuses of the time.
I watched an interview he gave about George Harrison. George Harrison was in the hospital, dying, unable to move much. Ringo had to fly to NYC to be with his daughter, who was also having brain surgery. He told George about it, and the first thing George said was, "Do you want me to go with you?"
Ringo cried as he told the story, and said, "That's just the kind of bloke he was. Always wanting to do something for someone else." He never saw George Harrison alive again. You could tell he was really grieving for his friend.
I've bookmarked the video, so I can watch it later-- it looks marvelous!
Years ago, I heard an interview with George Martin, the Beatles producer, who had worked with many other bands, and he said that he could never believe what Ringo could get out of that 4 piece set up and with such ease. To hear it confirmed by these amazing drummers, just gives it so much more street cred. I think that people think of Ringo as the least talented Beatle, but in truth, The Beatles wouldn't have been them, with him.

I remember hearing that story... I got choked up again. Poor George. He was my favorite Beatles because of his kind heart. Life was not fair to him.
Ringo really did love George. He also has a big heart.
I think you will enjoy the video. Matt showed it to me late last night, and I loved it.
My Pleasure!
Ringo...one of the most talented drummers ever! Thanks Perrie, I will check out the video later, have to get ready for a Dr. appt. now......
Some imfo about Ringo....
George was always my favorite Beatle... He had something about him that seemed to exude kindness and calm, at least to me.
But, I love Ringo, too!
Thanks, Nona! That's some great information!
The song list-- they were all pretty familiar to me! Gee, I must be a FAN!
I think there were very few people that weren't fans of the Beatles...
Cool!
