North Korea had a top government official executed last month for having “bad sitting posture” that made it appear he fell asleep during a meeting, according to South Korea.

Kim Yong Jin, a vice premier for education, appeared to fall asleep during a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to  Foreign Policy.

“Kim Yong Jin was denounced for his bad sitting posture when he was sitting below the rostrum,” a South Korean Unification Ministry spokesperson reportedly said.

Yong Jin was then accused of being an “anti-party, anti-revolutionary agitator” and executed by a firing squad.

Two other high ranking North Korean officials were disciplined through “reeducation programs,” which usually implies a trip to a labor camp, the report said.

One of the disciplined officials — Kim Yong Chol, who was in charge of inter-Korean affairs — will be sent to work at a collective farm for an unspecified time period.

I think maybe the sales of No-Doz will go through the roof in NK from now on.

"If you thought your boss overreacted after that time you fell asleep during a board meeting, then at least be thankful for this much: he didn’t have you executed.

On Wednesday, South Korean officials announced that last month, a North Korean firing squad shot and killed Kim Yong-Jin, a vice premier for education, for doing just that.

His audacity to either fall asleep or have such bad posture that others thought  he did during a   meeting run by North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un earned him the pleasure of an interrogation by government officials. It was after that meeting that he was labeled an “ anti-party, anti-revolutionary agitator,” and sentenced to death.

“Kim Yong-Jin was denounced for his bad sitting posture when he was sitting below the rostrum,” Seoul’s Unification Ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-Hee said on Wednesday."

I'm reading a series of true life stories of several Notth Koreans who defected to South Korea.  NK is the most fucked up regime imaginable.  So little electric power is available there, that from space the country looks like a burned out lightbulb.  The starvation is horrifying.  Their brand of communism is the worst possible form of government, yet millions of suffering citizens are blindly devoted and fiercely patriotic.  The truth is, being executed in NK is only a little worse than not being executed.

NK is the most fucked up regime imaginable.

That might be the case currently but recent history in Cambodia makes this incident seem minor in comparison .

His last words were, "Could I have a two-day vacation instead?".
