Falling into Autumn in the Adirondacks
My family has a lake house in the Adirondacks, I've been coming here as long as I can remember.....I think I was around 5 when we started. I'm going to try and post some autumn pictures, though I never seem to have much luck with it.
This place is food for the soul. I hope you have a place like this in your life!
Okay figured out what I did wrong on the seed......now it won't let me edit.......
Try the "update" option. I can't edit seeds either unless I use that.

The Lonely Float
What you have, Gary, is so similar to what I had in Ontario's Haliburton lake country - your great photos brings back wonderful memories.
Buzz,
I'm lucky enough to work part time for a company based in Minden, of all places. Nicest people in the world. I get the privilege of going up there at least twice a year. They are on a lake, once the site of a big resort. This summer, for our company golf outing, I played at Halliburton Highlands-I know of what you speak.
Minden is located on the Gull River, just north of Gull Lake. I used to boat up the river, dock my boat in Minden to go shopping for steaks to BBQ. Here is my chalet on Gull Lake:
A dream house in my book.
That photo was taken while I was in my canoe right over the spot where the lake bottom dropped sharply with many weeds there, and where I would find lots of bass while still fishing with worms and casting with spoons. I didn't have to go far or wait long to catch a delicious lunch. The lake, which was limestone based, was tested annually by the Ontario government and was one of the cleanest and acid-free lakes in the whole area - we could drink the lake water from our kitchen tap by only running it though a simple stone filter under the sink.
Some great photos, Spike...
The leave haven't started to turn here yet. Should be any day now.
I didn't know Six was up her with us........LOL.......I'm going to have to smack my dog......some watchdog she is......
Six is sneaky, he'll get past the dog in a NY minute.
LOL! Nice day, getting lots of work done.......

I wish I was up there with you in such a beautiful place. But if I was there, you'd probably only see me and your dog in the morning and evening, because we would vanish into those trees and be gone until supper time just exploring everything and enjoying the heck out of it.
There's an old fire tower behind the camp, about 1.1 miles up the mountain trail, it's open to visitors. You can see counties away and all the surrounding lakes. No time to go up this weekend and take pics, might be a 'to do list' item for next year.
I wish I was up there with you in such a beautiful place.
Count me in as well!
Thanks for this Spikegary … a wonderful view of a part of your world with which I can relate completely!
I have to do some work now, but will take more pics and post....Sunny day today, which will make for better pics.....
Funny, there are not showing up in the order I posted them.....
Some more pics, the eagle is something my brothers and I bought for my parents a few years back. I had to carry it in to the winter storage today.....the other is a rock formation on the side of the road by the camp-my dad says he was talking to a geologist and these are some very, very old rocks, older than the Central Adirondacks.
I love every single one of them. Thanks for sharing.
It looks like paradise......I envy you. This is my ideal place - fall foliage, fishing and hiking.
