Water wins in the end - or you would see no Grand Canyon.

Water wins in the end - or you would see no Grand Canyon.

Only if you accept the idea of an "end"; the eroded rock materials carried away from their sources by moving water, eventually becomes sediment … and eventually rock … somewhere else on earth … albeit a process taking eons.

The Grand Canyon, et al, is layers of sediment (among other rock forms); it's cyclical.

The statement with the second shot is so VERY correct. I love to listen to the voice of the flow - is there anything else more soothing?

I agree, Buzz!  I love to hear water moving..  It's a comforting roar, peaceful and serene..

Such beautiful pictures and colors!

Yep, water wins in the end.  All the plains states were formed when the "proto-Rockies" were eroded...  The current Rockies were a part of the general sediments, pushed way up in the air, turned as a block, and stayed there.  You can see how these layers were once stacked up, then upended, to form this jagged edge of the Grand Tetons:

Thanks for the rocks, A. Mac!  Everything around us is a geologic moment, frozen in time...  You can often see the results of the most recent event...

Beautiful Mac, there is nothing more soothing than a steam as it runs over and round the rocks.

More tomorrow …

Good night to good friends and to all who are not yet good friends.

To those with whom I disagree almost always … PEACE to you and your families … it's not personal, I just tend to be intense.
