RIP
I've studied deeply in the philosophies and religions, but cheerfulness kept breaking through. -
Leonard Cohen
A loss of such magnitude to me - he was, ever since I watched him on a stage singing Suzanne in 1965, my choice as the greatest singer songwriter (besides being a venerable author and poet). Even Bob Dylan had been quoted once to have said that "Leonard Cohen is the only musician who intimidates me." Dylan was using the dictionary definition of "intimidate" to mean a person for whom he had the highest respect.
intimidate - to overawe or cow, as through the force of personality or by superior display of wealth, talent, etc. (Dictionary.com)
Although I cannot open the YouTube posted by John, I have listened to his music so many times they run through my head by memory.
Not long ago he wrote to one of his early loves and muses who was on her death bed that he would soon be following her. He did, and the world has lost an icon.
The song is the studio version of Hallelujah
Is it weird that I'm not a Leonard Cohen fan?
