National Geographic Photo Contest
Playful penguins on Bleaker Island, a lionfish sending out a colourful warning to underwater predators and Niagara Falls in all their dramatic splendour.
These are just three of the stunning entries submitted as part of this year's National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest - but there are plenty more impressive images.
Another incredible image features one of the Igorot mountain people, who inhabit the peaks of Luzon in The Philippines, sporting tribal markings and attire.
There's also a paint-splashed goat at India's Pongal Festival, and the breathtaking volcanic beach at Stokksnes in Iceland.
National Geographic has invited photographers from around the world to enter the annual competition by submitting spectacular shots taken on their travels.
Snappers can submit images in any of the four categories - Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place, and Spontaneous Moments.
The grand-prize winner will receive an eight-day National Geographic Photo Expedition to Costa Rica and the Panama Canal for two people.
Judging will be based on creativity as well as photographic quality.
The second-prize winner will receive a six-day National Geographic Photo Expedition: Winter Wildlife in Yellowstone for two.
And the third prize-winner will receive a six-day cruise for two from Schooner American Eagle and Heritage.
Seven merit prize-winners will receive a $200 (130) gift certificate for B&H Photo as well as the National Geographic
The contest ends on Tuesday, June 30, at 12pm.

I have not seen A National Geographic Magazine in years, but I watch the NatGeo channel on cable every so often
These are some beautiful shots
I remember beautiful pictures from around the world in the magazine when I was a kid.
These are great! I'm looking to see if they are HDR images.
Beautiful!
Beautiful photos.
I still get NatGeo, and I love the magazine.

Thanks for the feedback - they are indeed beautiful!
Doe HDR mean high definition resolution?
