Not Quite There … but Closing In

Trying to find the right focus adjustments, metering, lens choices, aperture/shutter speed/ISO combinations that more-or-less consistently give me images that satisfy me.

This photo is nice, but the lens used, while giving me the shutter speeds I prefer, forces me to crop the overall image size to eliminate extraneous content. That leaves me with a physical sized image too small for most publishers' needs.

It's ok if it's going on a cell phone case, greeting card or postage stamp, but if you're looking to cover a big hole in your wall, this one's not for you.

Both are beautiful shots, but I prefer the 2nd one.  I love how you captured the stripes in the chickadee's feathers.

Funny you prefer the chickadee; twice today when I was putting seed in the feeder, the chickadee flew in and landed inches away from my hand. It's a different feeling than seeing it through a lens.

House Finch … still not large enough for most publications.

The species used to be referred to as "Purple Finch".

I once knew a girl named Anita Finch. She was quite a bird.

Love little chickadees-- they're so busy and happy!   Wonderful pictures!
