Seems an easy choice to me!

I learned from Dr. Paul Ekman that fear is an emotion. Emotions are not part of our conscious thoughts. They are housed deeper in our brain and are shared with other animals. Fear is what triggers our legs to into action to jump out of the way of a charging rhino before our mind has time to think about it.

Some things you have to run from, most others you simply have to face. Most the time it's best to ignore your fear.

FLY

I disagree - I think acknowledging and dealing with one's fears is a much more productive approach than ignoring it.

Dealing with an issue can entail going around it or even retreating from direct contact, which is done with consideration and thought is dealing with one's fear rather than running from it

Thanks for the feedback and perspective

Actually jumping out of the way is a reasoned response to a stimulus, the thought (fear if you will) of being crushed and trampled is processed and an alternative is chosen.

Reasoned response

Thanks for the perspective

I recommend you read the book Emotional Awareness. It will help you understand the difference between emotions and conscious thought.

Emotions, spur thoughts that lead to actions

Even actions in a split second are the result of thought and not simply emotions.

Appreciate the feedback and the link

I used to think like that too. Think of it this way your emotions can trigger your body to respond without conscious thought. The fear emotion can trigger a rise in heart rate so more blood can flow to the legs without you having time to think about rising your heart rate. It also is what triggers the release of adrenaline that gives you that extra boost of power and can also trigger your muscles to reflex before you have time to think.

Disagree

The legs do not work unless the brain tells them to, except for twitches and the like

I agree that emotions trigger the release of hormones, but thought triggers actions
